MMORPG.com has posted another developer journal from Jon Selin. Keep reading to learn about the dumbest quest in the world.
The Dumbest Quest in the World exists. And more disturbingly, for a brief moment it existed in our game. The other day I was watching one of our designers exerting all his piss and vinegar as he was working on a new quest for Dreamlords. Then he shook is head, turned to me with a sad look on his face, and asked: “What do you think when we create utter crap for your game?”
Strategy Informer has updated their site with an interview with Jon Selin, the Lead Designer of Dreamlords.
Strategy Informer: What can you tell us about players’ main characters, Dreamlords, and their role in the game?
Jon Selin: A Dreamlord is the spirit of a piece of floating land called a Patria. While the Dreamlord is the player’s avatar, there is also a race living on the patria which the Dreamlord can control to do his biddings. While you often field your armies you can also go on spirit quests with the Dreamlord, playing in third person mode.
MMORPG.com posted an interview with Jon Selin on Friday. They sat down to talk about this upcoming MMO.
MMORPG.com: In the big scheme of things, building resources via web management, RTS where you command units… where does your personal avatar fit in? How important is he/she?
Jon Selin: The Dreamlord, which is the player’s avatar, is at the core of the game’s storyline. From time to time you take direct control of the Dreamlord to resolve different quests and further the storyline, and also unraveling the history that predates the journey that the players’ experiences. The Dreamlord is always present when it comes to managing your land as well. For example, its basic power is its gnosis, which also determines how much people you can have working on your land.
