Fallen Earth: Interview with Lee Hammock

MMORPG.com updated their site today with this interview with Lee Hammock.

MMORPG.com: With this post-apocalyptic type of setting, what technology can players expect? Will we see anything from baseball bats, machine guns, or even high tech laser weapons in action?

Lee Hammock: For the initial release we're sticking to a level of technology based on that found in the real world as the players struggle to recover the achievements of the world before Shiva. So they'll start out with pipes, wooden boards, and crossbows but eventually move on to swords, assault rifles, and submachine guns. In the future players will have access to more advanced technologies

A GDC 2007 Preview / Interview with Fallen Earth's Lee Hammock

Lee Hammock, Lead Game Designer at Icarus Studios, was on-hand at GDC 2007 last week to demo their upcoming post-apocalyptic MMORPG Fallen Earth. Lee answered our questions and showed us why much of the game is one-of-a-kind, from character creation and customization to crafting and combat.

"Character creation was interesting. In addition to all the usual sliders you usually get in an RPG, there are lots of fun tattoos to choose from. Facial hair for the gents has two layers, stubble and the actual facial hair. You'll not only have a number of clothing options to choose from, and just about every item came from an assortment of colors. Wearing a jacket? You can go zipped or unzipped. Ball caps can be worn backwards or forwards. And I guarantee that one thing you will not find in any other RPG is a slider for body hair (girls get bellybutton rings and everyone gets body tats)."

    GDC Interview: Fallen Earth

MMORPG.com was able to catch up with the developers of the upcoming Fallen Earth.

The technology in Fallen Earth begins the game at a base level. You have a few left over weapons like guns but also have make-shift hand to hand weapons coming into play. The guys at Icarus studios plan to have the technology of the game grow as characters grow. With more modern technology becoming available as you gain in skills. They did say that they plan to have some extreme science technology in the expansions when they come out.

Fallen Earth Interview - Part 1

RPGVault has posted part one of an interview with Lead Game Designer Lee Hammock. Keep reading to see what they were able to learn about Fallen Earth.

Jonric: Why have you opted not to release much information and to maintain a rather low profile during the past year or more?

Lee Hammock: We have chosen to spend our time and money on the product rather than talking about it. We also like to deliver on our promises, so we make the presentation of those promises when the time is right.

This interview also includes four new screenshots. Head over and learn more.
