  • RPG Vault has a Dungeons and Dragons Video Commentary for your viewing enjoyment.

What we've seen of the game so far is certainly very intriguing and we wanted to make sure to share as much of it with you as possible. To that end, we had the chance to corner Lead Designer Ken Troop and get him to provide some commentary over footage captured from the game.
Each of the videos encompasses different elements of the game for around 25 minutes of footage total. Therefore we thought it would be best to split them into three different videos but we certainly recommend grabbing all of them in succession.. You'll see everything from general thoughts about the world of Eberron to how the team dynamic can affect quests and combat.

Do yourself a favor and visit our Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach Site You won't regret it.

I'd like to take this time to talk about the dangers of not ingesting enough coffee. It's not a good thing and frankly I wouldn't try it at home. One must have at least four cups a day to successfully function in the real world. For the non-real world I suggest a full bodied Mountain Dew.

    DUNGEONS & DRAGONS ONLINE™: Stormreach™ Confidentiality Obligations Lifted 09-Jan-2006
Turbine is pleased to announce that the confidentiality obligations in the Preview and Non-disclosure Agreement for the DUNGEONS & DRAGONS ONLINE™: Stormreach™ Beta have been lifted earlier than anticipated. This means players in the Beta Program and those who took part in the Stress Test Events are free to talk about the game on public forums. After getting so much positive feedback from our Beta players, we felt it was time to let them share their opinions and praise for DDO with the rest of the MMOG community.

Good news indeed for all of the DND players out there who are looking forward to this game.

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee

In the typical sandwich combat MMO, there’s little point in trying to dodge blows from a monster you’re fighting; it’s programmed to hit you regardless. While you can engage a DDO monster in that manner, real-time reactions will make you a much more efficient fighter (with a lot more hit points left over at the end of a fight). Don’t just stand in front of the enemy and trade blows. Keep those feet moving - to the flanks - adjust your position. Much like boxers and marital artists do, move around to keep your opponent off-balance. Nimble monsters present a challenge, they may move to face you as fast as you move away, so mix your movement by also jumping back and forth as you attack. I see too many barbarians and rangers (in light armor) trying to trade blows toe-to-toe. They may win, but are often more wounded than necessary and are soon dipping into their potion supply or crying for the nearest healer when the next encounter slams the party. And healers, just like fighters, are working on a strategic budget in any given dungeon crawl - there’s no automatic health or magic point regeneration here!

  • As Napoleon Dynamite would say... "Luckiieee!"
    MMORPGDot.com
has a link to Yahoo Games.
Doesn't sound very impressive but they are featuring a preview of Dungeons and
    Dragons Online: Stormreach!

Yahoo Games' Chris Hudak takes a look at Turbine's forthcoming sure-to-be-a-blockbuster
    title, Dungeons and Dragons Online.

The last thing Turbine (and their inspirational partners, Wizards of the Coast)
wanted to do was to give the gaming world yet another generic, aimless, newbie-snubbing,
player-griefing, stat-grinding MMORPG and stuff it into a vaguely D&D-ish
skin. Lead designer Ken Troop likened the experience of MMORPG grief to having
a gaggle of jerks barge into a tabletop D&D session, bellowing profanity
and scattering the group's dice and figures.
No, the goal was always to give PC gamers a game that truly emulates the
imaginative, transporting experience of the classic pen-and-paper RPG, complete
    with personality-rich locales, carefully balanced party-based adventure/combat,
and a meaningful story. Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach, takes some
promising, heroic strides down that noble, if nerdy, road.
Based on the 3.5 Edition Dungeons & Dragons rules (and set in the Wizards
of the Coast campaign fantasy realm of Eberron), Stormreach is rooted in party-based
exploration, in the vein of Guild Wars. It also aims to streamline the sometimes
alienating experience of the first-time D&Der.
