This game has been funded by donations from players like you. Well, it will be. And when I say donations, think microtransactions.

    Interview with Phil Maurer

MMORPG.com posted this interesting interview today with Phil Maurer, the Operations Team Lead for the upcoming MMORPG, Sword of the New World.

MMORPG.com: How do you feel the game will translate into the North American market?

Phil Maurer: I feel that there will be no problems translating Sword to the Western Market, it has all the things that we expect as players from American or a European developer, such as we have a huge quest system, trading houses, diversity of classes, and depth in game play.

Ten Ton Hammer Interviews the Producer of Sword of the New World

On the fast track for a late May 2007 release, Sword of the New World: Granado Espada is one of the biggest games to come out of Korea in some time. Developed by famed Hakkyu Kim - one of the faces behind Ragnarock Online - SotNW has a stellar track record with Korean gamers. Now the game is coming to the states, and we sat down with Peter Cesario to find out why we should look forward to his upcoming title.

The localization process involves all aspects of the game, not just translation of the in- game text, since the American/European audiences tend to have a different set of expectations and needs than the Korean market. At this point it would be very difficult to list all the aspects of the game that have been worked on, but one example is how we are balancing the time needed to hit certain milestones in the game. Traditionally the western market tends to favor less of a grind to reach the highest levels, and we are working on bringing Sword more in line with this philosophy.
