  • Nightfall Wins Game of the Year Award

    Gamespy has posted their end of year awards. Guild Wars latest expansion Nightfall, gets Game of the Year honors.

    This year found the Guild Wars expansion-machine in full swing, with two standalone campaigns released six months apart: Factions and Nightfall. While we were very much into Factions, Nightfall edged it out in our minds. Its North African-inspired setting was extremely cool, and the two new professions introduced -- the vicious Dervish and the stalwart Paragon -- were just too cool for words.

    In a press release issued yesterday by the makers of Guild Wars, we learn that they have exceeded 3 million in sales and more!

    "Reaching three million units sold in such a short amount of time is absolutely incredible," says Robert Garriott, CEO, NCsoft North America. "Coupled with the recent news of Guild Wars Factions winning Billboard's Multiplayer Game of the Year, we couldn't be prouder of what the team at ArenaNet has accomplished with the Guild Wars games."

  • Skill Synergy: Part Two

    The official site for Guild Wars continues their additions to the PVP Primer...

    Builds form an integral component of Guild Wars, and selecting skills is just as important as how you use those skills. Many skills act in synergy with each other and offer tons of options for combinations. We'll examine some of those opportunities in this article, and start explaining how skills work with each other and how certain types of skills can "cover" other ones.

    As with the previous primer synergy article, we move away from Training, Zaishen, and Random Arenas. However, the builds listed below work fine in Random Arenas. In fact, we suggest that you try them out in Random Arenas or a similar arena for practice. Each of these builds has a good chance of proving useful in any PvP conflict, from Hero Battles to GvG to Alliance Battles.

  • Another Double Fun Weekend

    The official site for Guild Wars has been updated with a note letting us know about this upcoming event in which players will be able to double their rewards!

    This coming weekend, there are two ways for you to double your PvP fun: You’ll receive double GvG Faction for unique kills, matches won, and flawless victories, plus you will get double Champion Points when both competing guilds have a rating of 1200+ on the Guild Wars Ladder. This Double Fun Weekend starts at Noon PST on Friday, December 8, and ends at 11:59 p.m. PST on Sunday, December 10.

  • New Content Available this Weekend

    The official site for Guild Wars was updated with an announcement that there will be new content opened up for those that have completed Nightfall!

    This weekend is truly special, as we launch the opening of the Domain of Anguish. Players who have completed Nightfall will be given access to this elite area through the Chantry of Secrets on Friday, December 1st. You will find four separate areas for players to explore, nearly a dozen quests, new armor upgrade options, a system for acquiring novel weapons, and of course a compelling mission as well. We look forward to seeing you in the Domain of Anguish!
