Our newest batch of screens was sent to us by GameTap and Cyan Productions, makers of the sociable first-person puzzler MMO Myst Online: Uru Live. This comes with some interesting info for those not tracking Myst Online's development. In possibly the most creative business model choice to-date, GameTap aims to offer subscriptions to Myst Online to its US GameTap subscribers. Gamers get access to all the games and media GameTap has to offer for the price of admission to Myst Online, or vice versa. MO:UL also has a free, scaled back "Visitor" option too.

"Today, GameTap has posted a new batch of screen shots for the upcoming "Myst Online: Uru Live," an innovative intrigue-driven massively multiplayer online game that launches in December 2006.

Selling more than 12 million units, "Myst" was the top-selling video game franchise of its day and is credited with creating the first-person adventure-puzzle genre. Looking to continue this tradition of excellence, GameTap has tapped Cyan Worlds to produce this online version of the game that will be available exclusively on GameTap. For $9.95 a month, subscribers get unlimited access to "Myst Online: Uru Live," plus more than 700 other games and 600+ TV shows/videos on the web. "

    "This is my... Boomstick 2000!"
MMORPG.com is sporting some new screenshots detailing the weaponry in the first "MMO with a first-person-shooter feel in a cyberpunk atmosphere." I hope they have strength implants in that game world; humping those BFGs through the brush would make for a bad day.

"The developers of Neocron 2 have released another set of 5 screenshots. These shots, like so many of the sneak peeks that we have had from this game, focus on letting players know just what kind of weaponry they can expect to run into in-game."

    XORG? Say wha?

Any game wanting to (literally) redefine the genre while using "X" to abbreviate "extreme" ought to throw up a red flag or two, but we'll give this ambitious FPS-meets-MMO post-apocalypse newcomer the benefit of the doubt!

Twilight War: After the Fall will be a groundbreaking XORG (Extreme Online Roleplaying Game), with advanced graphics and an integrated FPS combat system, in the Post-Apocalyptic Science Fiction genre. Twilight War: After the Fall uses SpeedTree technology to populate the game work with hundreds of thousands of trees, as well as Valve's Source Engine.

See some eXtreme Twilight War screenshots at Worthplaying's eXtreme site.

Eternia, not to be confused with Ehernia.
GameSpot is reporting that the Tales of Eternia has begun. This will be Namco's first MMOG. Monty Python studios has raised issue with the carrying of the dead feature, claiming it infringes on their "Bring out your dead...." skit from "They Holy Grail":

"TOEO uses a symbol encounter system similar to the original TOE, wherein the player enters battle mode whenever he or she bumps into an enemy symbol that's moving around the field map. The players fight in real-time using the series' Linear Motion Battle System. Players can perform combination attacks if they execute moves in a certain order in an allotted time span. If the character dies in battle, TOEO's "piggyback system" lets characters carry around the deceased. If they make it to a church, the dead character can be resurrected with no experience penalities."

    Fancy pants pictures.
Pro-G has posted some Asheron's Call 2: Legions screenshots. They didn't write anything...not a blurb, not a snippet, and certainly not this:

"Open Letter to Pro-G. Please write something to describe your content. We the people of gaming yearn for the days of old when websites actually wrote something down. Take us back to the glory days.
    Signed, The People of Gaming"

    Romans in space.
VoxPlebis has posted some new Imperator screenshots. Some fashion experts appear to agree that the new "black" is pink, the old "yellow" is the new green, and the new "tall" is short based on the following:

"Three Imperator screenshots for your visual gratification."

Look now. Play later. Irth Online screenshots are up at RPGVault. They may have written this: "Magic Hat Software's Irth Online is a fantasy-themed persistent state project said to emphasize role-playing and letting players determine their own in-game experience. Officially announced in April, it's currently in beta and targeted to launch within the coming months. The setting is an expansive environment in which a fragile peace exists among three diverse civilizations, the northern Arcadians, swamp-dwelling Morbus and tropical Mezoteks. Key features and elements that seem likely to interest players who prefer open-ended virtual worlds include a free-form storyline and a skill system in which ti's said characters can learn any ability without racial or class-based restrictions."
