Miscellaneous Interviews

  • It's dead Jim.
MMORPG.com has an interview discussing the demise of Asheron's Call 2, featuring Jonathan Hanna, the director of community releations. We felt that Keanu Reeves would know better than anyone what it feels like to be part of a sequel that fails, unfortunately, he would not return our calls. We are confident he would have said this, if only he would have...said this:

" In the wake of Turbine announcing Asheron's Call 2 is coming to an end, Jonathan "Calandryll" Hanna, the Director of Community Relations for Turbine, took some time to sit down and answer a few questions, exclusive on MMORPG.com. Below we find out what, if anything, is in store, why it happened and more. "

  • A 2.5D MMORPG. In other news thieves apprehended with 0.5D of MMORPG in their possession.
MMORPG.com has posted a Dark Solstice Interview featuring President, Frank Ross. No trans fats and 0.5D lighter than other MMORPGs. While whittling off 0.5D the developers where heard singing:

"In an era when a flood of MMORPGs fight tooth and nail to set themselves apart from the crowd, along comes Dark Solstice, an MMORPG touting "2.5D graphics". It sounds like a gimmick, but with a unique visual style they have definitely differentiated themselves. Now we find out what is behind it as Staff Writer Jon Wood talks to Black Masque Games President Frank Ross."

  • Be nice and ask your questions with a little Tactica...

MMORPG.com puts the screws to Luke Carruthers in a grueling four-question Q&A on Tactica Online. And it goes, a little like this:

We’re actually starting the first stage of external testing right now. A very restricted set of people are helping us with what we’re calling Technical Testing. It’s focused on the server infrastructure and network performance, and will lead into wider public testing in the future.

Along with the Technical Testing phase, we’re starting to release more information about skills and the different factions, and the official forums are going live.

The next stage will be a limited Alpha test, and it will begin the focus on gameplay testing and balance. We expect it to start in August.

  • Friends, Romans, Countrymen; lend me your BFGs.

RPG Vault has posted "Part 2" of their interview series with Mythic Entertainment's Matt Firor and Colin Hicks. Our fly on the wall reports that they may have said this:

Colin Hicks: Missions are one of the most important aspects of Imperator. It is, after all, what the player is doing most of the time he's playing the game. Missions are the avenue through which the player experiences the world and understands the story of Imperator as well as his place in it.

Overall, the content in Imperator can be summarized in three categories, Open Zones, Engagements and Life Events.

  • More pirates....Holy Hannah in a handbasket.
Gamers Info has posted a Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates interview featuring Daniel James. It's within the realm of possibility that they wrote this:

"Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates is one of the most unique MMO's out there. It takes many of the common concepts seen in some of the bigger budget titles and spins them down to their simplest form. Combined with puzzles that at first appear easy, but will end up taking hours out of your day before you even realize it, it is a lot of swashbuckling fun! We recently sat down with Daniel James, lead designer and CEO of Three Rings, and Jon Demos, one of the talented artists working on the game."
