The Secret World refers to a world within our own, where myths and conspiracies are real, and monsters and magic do exist. Conspiracies cloak the many secrets across the world and throughout time as three secret societies - the Illuminati, the Templars and Dragon - fight for control by manipulating governments and world events with precision, brute power and meticulous calculation.

The Secret World is being developed by Funcom and co-published by EA. The game takes place in a modern day setting where all the myths, legends and conspiracies throughout history are real. The Secret World has made use of an ARG campaign to promote the mysterious and horror-filled setting of the world in which it takes place.

There are no classes in The Secret World, but rather a skill system with which players can shape their own characters as they see fit. The three factions of the game are at odds with each other, but they can still group together and unite to fight the coming darkness that threatens the world.

In December 2012, Funcom made subscriptions optional for The Secret World by adopting a new Buy-to-Play model. Purchase the game and play for free or subscribe for additional perks.
