  • Player Beta Journals Discuss The Minstrel

The official site for Lord of the Rings Online has been updated with another in the series of Player Beta Journals! Keep reading to see what this week's journal brings!

When I log onto my minstrel, I feel very comfortable with him. Minstrels are the main healing class, therefore it is very easy to make friends and find a group. The minstrel, in my eyes, is one of the backbones of any fellowship.

  • Exploring Middle-earth: The Ford of Bruinen

The official site for Lord of the Rings Online has been updated with another in the series of Exploring Middle-earth.

As travelers head east toward the Misty Mountains, leaving behind the barren Lone-lands and the treacherous hills of the Trollshaws, the roar of the River Bruinen, or "Loadwater," fills the air. At the Ford of Bruinen, where the Great East Road crosses the mighty river as it approaches the Valley of Rivendell, the swift waters can be easily crossed at these shallows just below the picturesque falls.

  • New Players Beta Journal

The official site for Lord of the Rings Online has been updated with another in their series of Player Beta Journals. This week's installment talks about the Captian Class.

Today was my first time fighting with a fellowship in an instance. Up until this point I had been struggling with the usefulness of my captain. He "wasn't the best solo dps" or "his buffs and heals didn't feel that effective." Part of this was because I was still in my lower levels. Well today that all changed.

  • More D&D fun than you can roll some dice at...

One of the most anticipated titles of winter 2006 just got a little better. The Atari Group announced today that with every European retail copy of Neverwinter Nights 2, players will receive a free 7-day trial of Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach.

Neverwinter Nights 2 will include a code for a seven day free trial of DUNGEONS & DRAGONS ONLINE™: Stormreach™, and also that module 3, The Demon Sands, is now available bringing a string of new gameplay enhancements to the hit title. DUNGEONS & DRAGONS ONLINE: Stormreach is based on the world-renowned DUNGEONS & DRAGONS® brand franchise from Wizards of the Coast, Inc., a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc. The game is developed by Turbine, published in Europe by Atari and operated by Codemasters Online Gaming.

No NN2 joy for North Americans, but you can still pick up the game for a $29.95 digital download at the DDO official site. You can read the same thing with more words by viewing the press release, but I'd recommend checking out the DDO - Ten Ton Hammer community site instead.

  • The ArchLord team is pleased to announce their fantastic Halloween event tomorrow evening.

ArchLord HQ is entering in to the spooky Halloween spirit and has created a special event called The Night of the Walking Dead.

On Halloween players will find an announcement on the event page. Something mysterious is happening and the wise- men of Chantra sense coming evil. A call will go out to all players to help fight the threat or Chantra will suffer hundreds of years under a plague.

Three magic brothers are going to terrorize the whole of Chantra. Look for the first sign, scattered pockets of the walking dead. Watch out as they unite to lead an army of the dead. Over the course of the event players will receive different clues about how to find the three brothers.

We call on all Chantrans to seek out the brothers and slay them before their evil plague can spread across all of Chantra. I look forward to seeing my fellow adventurers on the battlefields.

All those that take part shall be rewarded for their valiant efforts!

  • Exploring Middle-earth: Brandy Hall

The official site for Lord of the Rings Online has been updated with another in the series of Exploring Middle-earth. In this edition, we are given a peek at Brandy Hall.

For nearly 700 years, the warm light from the many windows of Brandy Hall has welcomed visitors crossing the Brandywine River from the west into Buckland. Originally delved and built by Gorhendad Oldbuck, the first Master of the Hall (as the head of the Brandybuck family is called), and greatly expanded over generations, the ancestral home of the Brandybuck family is now formed of many tunnels and rooms occupying the entirety of Buck Hill on the eastern banks of the Brandywine.
