Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited + Lord of the Rings Online + Asheron's Call Interviews

  • One developer to rule them, and in the darkness bind them.
Turbine has posted their Lord of the Rings Online Thursday Insider, posing the question, "
Would YOU have agreed to be the Ringbearer? Why? " I sure wouldn't have. I can't stand weddings.:

    "Chris "NobOrBob" Foster (Designer):

I wonder. In many ways, the great courage Frodo showed was in recognizing the immensity of the danger, and the greater danger that would come from passing the Ring to someone else. If I was aware enough of the danger, I think I would take the Ring. The real question is, would I be willing to hear and recognize the true depth of the threat, or would I willfully remain ignorant?"

  • DDO Dev Diary Discovered.
The official Dungeons and Dragons Online site has posted a developer's diary featuring Zyrca. The diary is titled, 'Things I've Seen That Made Me Smile'. Strangely absent from the list was coming to work without pants on. That's always a real hoot around here:

"I'm Zyrca, I've been here at Turbine a couple of years now. When I got here, I started out working on the live team on Asheron's Call. If you played Asheron's Call, you may remember me from such things as the "Violet Ball" and for setting up the code that would set my monitor on fire should a 100% crafting interaction fail. Now I'm a game systems engineer helping build Dungeons & Dragons Online. Today, I want to share some of the things I've seen and heard while working on DDO that brought a smile to my lips."

  • Dungeons and Basements - Oldschool.
GamerGod has posted a Dungeons and Dragons interview featuring nine short questions. A Bugbear, a skeleton and a gnoll walked into a basement and said:

"Will this be just another MMORPG? With so much competition, what will make DDO a standout from the rest? These questions were on my mind when I recently sat down with the dev's of DDO..."

  • Five years ago the game launched. We decided to interview the devs today.
GameCloud has an Asheron's Call: Throne of Destiny interview posted. A drudge, who is not affiliated with The Drudge Report, but who suspiciously shares the name was heard spouting this:

"Launching five years ago when the massively multiplayer game genre was still fresh and new, developer Turbine's Asheron's Call quickly became one of the most popular MMORPGs ever released and still has a solid folling. Now the developer has taken over the full reigns of their first game from publisher Microsoft and are about to re-launch it as a retail product called Asheron's Call: Throne of Destiny with new content, features, improved graphics and more. Gamecloud got a chance to chat with Turbine's Alex Beckers about the new version of the game."

  • Please take your hands off of me Mr. Frodo. has posted a preview of Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar. We were always confused about who was Sauron and who was Sarumon and so was the guy playing the slots machines who suddenly yelled:

"Turbine has developed a very intuitive display for character and party status. There is no text onscreen in normal play. Instead, players' two health stats are described in a two-tone bar along the bottom of the screen. The first (and largest) portion of the bar displays your character's Endurance, which regenerates automatically. The left-most tip is another shade, however; it shows the character's Health, which must be healed magically or through resting in a camp or town."

  • LotRO Insider.
The first installment of Lord of the Rings Online Insider is up and alive at the Official Site . Our Legal Department has strongly advised us not to mention that actor Nick
Nolte was found wandering the streets mumbling the following:

"Welcome to the first installment of our new series, the Thursday Insider. In each Insider, we'll ask some team members to answer a question about themselves, LOTRO, or The Lord of the Rings. You never know what you'll get from the LOTRO team!"
