  • Preparing for the Expansion

Our latest guide takes a look at some things you can do to prepare for the expansion before it hits. Things like organizing your inventory, preparing for jewelcrafting, and more can be helpful in allowing you to jump right into the new content when the expansion is
    released!

"Until the initial expansion rush is completed you will probably see a lot of things, especially consumable items such as crafting commodities, skyrocket temporarily in price. Anything related to the expansion will be inflated in price due to something we like to call supply and demand."

  • First Look at "The Burning Crusade: Mana Tombs"

In an effort to cover all of the new instances in the Burning Crusade, I went adventuring through the Mana Tombs this weekend. The Mana Tombs are the first instance that you should visit in Auchindoun and contains several quests that you can get the first time through. Once you reach your mid 60's you will be spending at least a few runs there.

I really liked the look of the instance, even though we joked about the fact that MacGyver might want his imitation stargates back. Hmmm, mummies, Egyptians, stargate looking objects... sounds like Blizzard "borrowed" this from somewhere, doesn't it?

  • A Family that Plays Together, Stays Together

Ever wondered what it would be like to explore the depths of the Sunken Temple or the heights of Blackrock Mountain with...your dad? Dragonflie and Siscotoquork, two players from the Emerald Dream server know exactly how that feels - and they tell us about it!

“Aurael: Who started whom on gaming?

Dragonflie: I have been playing far longer then my father, then Final Fantasy 7 came out and I got my father hooked playing. Although he always used to watch me playing games before that.

Siscotoquork: I used to watch him play a lot and then he got me playing with FFVII.”

  • World of Warcraft: Blizzard Banning Accounts

MMORPG.com posted an editorial on Thanksgiving that takes a look at the recent trend in account banning.

More and more account issues continue to pop up in the MMORPG world this week. This time it's the monster company Blizzard who has come under fire for banning accounts that have been running third party software or operating in online trade or gold buying activities. These seem like valid reasons for a ban however players are being hit for running the game on Linux or logging in their character from another location. This is causing a stir among players because those who have done nothing wrong are logging in to find their accounts cancelled with little or no explanation from the company.

The problem is Blizzard allows so many customizable mods for players to use and this area can get shady. We here at MMORPG.com want to try to give players as much information as possible about the situation in order to help them not get wrongly banned as well as protect Blizzard's stance on hacking and third party programs.

  • The WoW Effect

A lot of MMORPGs these days are copying WoW, but what if WoW was to copy them? For this week's common content we look at WoW's effect on the industry and what would happen if WoW were to emulate some of its competition!

"What if WoW emulated DDO's dungeon loot system? Say you were in a five man instance and you come up to a treasure chest. Your Rogue makes sure it isn't trapped and you open it. Everyone (or almost everyone) in your party gets a piece of gear that is both useful and for their class. Its bind on pickup, of course, so they can't share but everyone comes out satisfied. This would make five man instances way more interesting then they currently are."

  • Blizzard Heading To Court?

Markee Dragon has a post on their site that talks about a brewing battle between WoW Glider and Blizzard.

We knew it had to happen one of these days with a bot program. Bots currently exist for most all Massive Multiplayer games. The biggest MMORPG in North America is World of Warcraft. WoW Glider is a 3rd party application that allows you to control your character in game without having to be present at your computer. It allows you to have your character go out and gain skills hunting monsters and it allows you to loot them. WoW Glider will pick up the items in game and put them in your pack. WoW Glider was launched June 5th 2005. Since that time it has become hugely popular with players of the game.
