Jumpgate Evolution + EverQuest II Features, Guides, and more

  • Pirates...Ninjas

We see the drama and hear the story behind it, but why are the superior pirates compared to ninjas on a regular basis? Slide takes a fun look at these two groups (in which the pirates are cooler) and weighs the pros and cons of each side (which of course the pirate side is better).

The interesting thing about the Pirate vs. Ninja debate is how widespread it is. It matters not where you go, be it down the street for a coffee or surfing across the web searching for 10 ways to make toast, there will be opinions about who would win in a fight or who is better overall. The unfortunate truth is that the Pirates vs. Ninjas discussion induces eye rolling almost as much as Chuck Norris facts for the simple fact that it's talked about in such tremendous quantities

Check out this fun article about how much better pirates are at EQ2 - TenTonHammer. No real interest in EverQuest 2, software piracy, or ninja looting required!

  • Raiding as a lost art...

In EverQuest II, they're called hard core, uber, or elite, but most of us just refer to them as raiders. Raiders are a special breed of players who exhibit skill, dedication, and motivation escaping the average player. Former raider Kiara, chats with a couple who raided and finds out the details on what raiding is all about.

We all know that EQ2 was designed to be a little more friendly towards the casual gamer than EQ. There are a lot of people out there who are grateful for this particular development. I know I'm one of them. Coming from a hard core rading guild in EQ, and having done my time in a hard core raiding guild in EQ2, I rejoice in the more laid back family oriented guild that I'm currently torturing.

  • The impossible interview...

Coyote wows us with another of his amazing blooper reals. The most frightening thing is, from my understanding we haven't even seen the "good stuff."

“Impossible interviews are a reporter’s worst nightmare. Your subject is hostile, belligerent, or in the worst scenario, refuses to do the interview that they had previously agreed to,” He explains as he nods towards the screen.

  • EQ2 TenTonHammer Sits Down with Larry Elmore...

Larry Elmore! If you don't know what Dragonlance is or you've never seen EverQuest cover art, you're going to be clueless. Fear not! We'll explain. Coyote, from our EQ2 - TenTonHammer team, interviews this legendary artist and manages to complete sentences despite being in total awe of him!

I've met a number of “celebrities” or “famous” individuals in my life, and around everyone of them I was proud at my composure and nonchalant manner. With a practiced apathy and casual demeanor, I was the epitome of cool. However, when I met Larry Elmore at the SOE Fan Faire, I have to admit that I was more than a bit “star struck”.

  • Congregating with cocktails...

Slide, at EQ2 - TenTonHammer, took a totally different tack on our weekly debate topic (this week we're looking at what makes an MMO "massively multiplayer" - and whether that's a bit of a misnomer since, for the most part, players do their own thing). He took the opportunity to talk about alcohol and real-life drinking by MMO players, and whether drinking changes the solo/group dynamics. At first, the editors were skeptical, but by their third or fourth drink, Slide's article started making a lot of sense (*hic*).

Many, many people mix alcohol with EverQuest 2 daily. Studying this article should better prepare you for what to expect and what to look for. There are pros and cons to drinking while in-game. Yep, I said there were pros. Take a walk with me if you dare discover what lies beneath the sober shroud of responsibility and good behavior.

Boozin', buffin', and bashin', sounds like a busy evening for Slide and the gang at EQ2 - TenTonHammer!

  • Why would an antisociable soloer solo in EverQuest 2?

Step inside the head (yes, we're providing protective clothing) of Coyote Sharptongue, a self-confessed compulsive soloer soloing for a reason to solo besides being antisocial.

I get asked this constantly from friends both in and out of the game when I explain to them that most of the time I'd rather be off exploring new locales or fighting newly found monsters on my own, rather than in a group. Sometimes the persistent grouper will try and hunt me down and add me to his list of conquests before running off into the night to brag to his friends and not call me the next day. Drive by group offers are the worst. Luckily, I have a bevy of excuses in my arsenal, and I'm ready to lob them grenade-like at any who would attempt to delve too deeply into my playing habits.

Find out why Coyote hates people (just kidding) at EQ2 - TenTonHammer.
