Auto Assault

More on Ten Ton Hammer

Auto Assault was a Massively Multiplayer Online Game, developed by NetDevil and published by NCsoft. It combined vehicular combat with role-playing elements, allowing the player to explore a post-apocalyptic future in customizable cars, motorcycles, semis, and tanks. The player could choose one of three factions — Humans, Mutants, and Biomeks — and a class to determine the type of character he will play. The majority of the gameplay takes place in the vehicle, but the player leaves the vehicle when entering towns.

Released April 11, 2006, Auto Assault was hit with hard, critical reviews of the gameplay and features inherent in the title. Reviews contended that the game was too hard to get into and players simply couldn't achieve their goals. Ten Ton Hammer, on the other hand, believed Auto Assault to be a fairly good game, albeit with some nagging issues that could be revised post release. While a core group of players remained on the servers and continued to rule the roadways, the game's popularity dwindled and it was announced that the game's servers would be shut down on August 31, 2007.
