  • New Preview

Atomicgamer took some time to give us their thoughts on the upcoming Burning Crusades expansion to World of Warcraft.

And the real-life atmosphere surrounding this expansion is a little different than what we saw two years ago when WoW was only just released. Gamers are rabidly anticipating the chance to go out, explore this new world of Outland, and level up their characters to the new maximum level: 70. But TBC isn't only made for the people who "raid" every single night, getting newer and more powerful gear. They've added two new races to the game: the Alliance gets the beefy Draenai race who have crash-landed on the planet of Azeroth due to the Burning Legion's arrival, and the Blood Elves are a new Horde race that used to once be the High Elves.

  • Echoes of Faydwer Reviewed

GamesXtreme.net has posted a review of the latest EverQuest2 expansion.

It may seem strange that as a big MMO fan I didn’t play the original Everquest. Forget about, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars and all the other modern Massively Multiplayer Role Players, Everquest was one of the key titles that introduced the MMO genre to the masses. The game had great financial success and without it online gaming would be a very different scene. Spawning several add-ons the game also had a sequel, Everquest 2 released in November 2004. Again, it may seem strange but I didn’t get round to playing the initial release, but I do now have my hands on the most recent expansion Echoes of Faydwer.

  • Scott Hartsman, the Senior Producer for EQII, chats with MMORPG.com

MMORPG.com has posted an interview with Scott Hartsman that was conducted at CES.

The Sony contingent was once again CES in Las Vegas – I think it has to be because it’s in Las Vegas – and I caught up with Scott Hartsman, Senior Producer of EverQuestII who was there to do the show and tell on Echoes of Faydwer.

Now, Scott… I think our readers here at MMORPG are pretty familiar with the Echoes of Faydwer expansion by now… what’s new? What’s hot? What’s to come? After a little joking around with Scott doing some flexing and me doing a little poking, we settled down for the goods.

  • Burning Crusade Preview #2

FiringSquad has posted their second look at the upcoming Burning Crusade expansion for World of Warcraft.

First off, the entry to the new areas of the game is through the Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands. Now, instead of having the whole area infested with demons, there's a base camp for the Alliance and Horde. Of course, the other side of that gate is where all the new content lays waiting. Once you go through that gate, the new adventure begins.

  • Jack Emmert Community Q&A #2

MMORPG.com has the second part of their Q&A with Jack Emmert, head of Cryptic Studios, posted today.

MMORPG.com (Techleo): What are your impressions of Issue 8? Would you like to see more variety in Mission goal-types than saving hostages, blasting a baddy, or searching for stuff?

Jack Emmert: Like to? Sure! New mission types take time to design, code, then implement. We’re always working on new twists and turns. I7 brought villain players the joy of Mayhem missions while I8 provided heroes with the challenge of Safeguard missions. Each brought some new stuff into play. So rest assured, we’ll keep delivering fresh, innovative content.

  • Age of Conan on DX10

IGN brings us more previews from the CES floor. This time is a look at Age of Conan on DX 10.

Age of Conan made a splash at the Consumer Electronics Show by being one of two games, Crysis being the other, to be shown using Microsoft's new and much touted DirectX 10 for Vista. The online action RPG for PC and Xbox 360, though only running on PC here, was a great way to showcase the new Vista platform with some stunning DX10 visuals.

MMORPG.com's Garrett Fuller had the opportunity to sit down for with Thomas Wollbekk, a Funcom World Designer currently working on their Age of Conan title.

MMORPG.com: The video game industry continues to grow very quickly. What are your hopes for games in the future?

Thomas Wollbekk: I hope that we see more gaming companies that dare to come up with new ways of doing things and dare to be original. Go Nintendo Wii! I’m also looking forward to see how e-sports will turn out in the future, maybe we one day will see gaming in the Olympics!

  • Director Gaute Godager Shares His Thoughts

ActionTrip started the day by updating their site with this interview. Keep reading to see what they were able to learn about the upcoming Age of Conan.

ActionTrip: Do you feel that your previous achievements, like Anarchy Online, are of any help throughout the development of Age of Conan?

Gaute Godager: Yes, absolutely! Making a massively multiplayer online game is a whole different ball-game than making a single-player game. It's just such an incredibly complex venture that as a game developer you end up learning something every day as you go along. The first time you make such a game, it's going to be a roller-coaster ride to the very end.
