  • Bard's the Ward!

Everyone loves the bonuses to attack and damage bonuses that come from the bard in the party in Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach. Many people consider it a plus if the bard can handle a weapon, too. But the main thing expected of any bard once he joins the party is that he will be ready with his cure spells to help keep the party alive.

Ralsu is a bard who focuses on crowd control. His battle strategy is to immobilize the enemy so that no one needs a cure spell in the first place. In fact, Ralsu doesn't know any cure spells at all:

Be ready for personal attacks and slander against your mother for not specializing in Cure spells. People expect bards to be healers...The CCC is dedicated to rendering monsters incapacitated so that the heavy hitters can deal with them in a leisurely manner...Extra Song V and Inspired Damage II are two Enhancements that combine to allow the CCC to keep the entire party buffed almost constantly with bonueses to hit and damage.

  • A look under Auto Assault's hood.

This week’s common content article is all about spring cleaning. What could be changed to make Auto Assault better? What is broken and needs to be fixed?

A fun game can be a blanket of different things. What is fun to one person can be dull and boring to another. However, there was a general consensus in the earlier beta that the game just wasn’t fun. Some found it not as fun as it could be while others found it dull and boring. NetDevil listened to the cries of the beta community and halted their release. Something unheard of before and is probably the single factor that will be contributed to Auto Assault’s hopeful success.

We take a look at where AA could use a tuneup in our article “A Look Under the Hood” at Auto Assault - TenTonHammer.

  • Does DDO Need to Tidy Up?

North American servers for Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach flung open their doors to welcome new gamers on February 28, 2006. Did players arrive to find a spotlessly clean game, or were there smudges on the windows and cobwebs in the corners? Shayalyn may like hanging out with DDO, but she's got a few cleaning tips for its developers, Turbine, Inc. Is DDO Martha Stewart approved? You decide!

Don’t get me wrong--I like DDO. I play it and I enjoy it. I do think that Turbine delivered on their promise to make an entertaining massively multi-player online game (MMOG) that would come as close as possible to replicating the pen-and-paper (PnP) Dungeons & Dragons tabletop roleplaying experience. I’m down with that. But...

    Yeah, there’s always a “but.”

  • The Dwarves of Middle-earth

If you're planning to play a sturdy and stalwart dwarf when Lord of the Rings: Shadows of Angmar launches later this year, then you'll want to check out our guide to the dwarf race.

The dwarves of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth are beings of short stature and stocky build. Dwarf males always sport long beards. (Whether dwarf females always wear beards is a matter of some speculation and debate.) Dwarves mine precious metals throughout Middle-earth and are known as skilled stoneworkers and smiths. Their gruff appearance and demeanor belies their ability for superb craftsmanship.

  • Devrek’s back this week with a surprise!

A special surprise full of mystic wonder and enjoyment! Well, not really. It’s more of an Auto Assault newsletter he created to go along with his normal sketch. That’s right! A whole newsletter is included in this week’s Roadhouse Comedy Club. That’s like a bonus, except that it's all free-of-charge!

Hey guys! Welcome back to the comedy club. Remember last time I said I was going to create a newsletter? Well I did it! I found someone to publish it and I have the first issue right here. I'll be handing them out at the end of today's skit. Don't worry though, there is plenty for everyone. They are digital so all you have to do is download them. I think. I don't really get technology.

Motor on over to Auto Assault @ TenTonHammer for some laughs with Devrek!

  • I'm still laughing. I have tears I do. Developer Diary: Allan "Orion" Maki - Friends Don't Let Friends Tank Balrogs The name should speak volumes of the humor in this piece. However, that's not what started me laughing. It's the picture of Will with his cow bell smack at the top. You gotta love a man who appreciates the need for more cow bell.

So you want to know something about The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™. Excellent! If only I could deliver all of the juicy information which you seek! How wondrous would the outpouring of gratitude be, and how greater still the rancor that followed, as shortcomings and disagreements were debated until the coming of the Last Battle!

(Translation: before I was a developer, I was an MMO fan first, then an Online Community Rep. Be nice to Patience!)

If I could do that I would, but I cannot. NobOrBob and his Balrog, Snuggles, keep our darkest secrets, er, secret. What I can do, however, is give you a glimpse of LOTRO from a great height, as if borne by a Great Eagle.
