Sony seems to be going through a growing pain at the moment. It's certain that Blizzard has shaken them off the mountain that they've been king of for nearly six years. With any luck they'll come through this phase with some fresh new ideas and content that screams play me.
The famed comedy writer Coyotee Sharptongue makes his TenTonHammer debut by riding along with Qeynos finest to clean up the streets of Nettleville Hovel. Read all about Norrath's favorite reality TV show while examining the rampant crime in EverQuest 2.
“I'm Captain Hastings and this is Guard Ashburn. We belong to the Nettleville district of the Qeynos Guard.” The first of the men introduces, drawing a quick nod of confirmation from his counterpart.
“This place has always been a “red candle” district if you know what we mean.” Hastings informs grimly as the two men begin walking.
Read the rest of Coyote's hilarious article at EQ2 @ TenTonHammer, and learn why his comic takes on EverQuest 2 have drawn quite a following!
World of Warcraft @ TenTonHammer gets queued up for some PvP action in the popular battleground instance, Warsong Gulch. This capture-the-flag style battle between 10-man crews from the Horde and Alliance will test your wits (not to mention level, experience, equipment, and all that good stuff!). You'll be at a disadvantage without getting schooled on the bg basics, which is where we come in!
On the surface, it's purely a game of "capture the flag." Two flags, two bases, and your object is to bring the opponent's flag to your base three times (i.e. earn three points before your opponent does). One significant rule change from the traditional game is this: that you have to defend your flag in order to score a point. In order to score, your team must touch the opponents' flag to your flag in your home base.
Brokain tells the riveting story, about him defeating an entire legion of Orcs in the Clefts of Rujark. Stay on the edge of your seat, as he recounts how he saved his entire party from certain destruction...
“Exactly.” The man answered. “Without me they were doomed. We would’ve still been wandering the entrance halls looking for how to get deeper into the mines had I not realized that we needed to find this ‘Overseer’ gent. So I lead the group back to the lift and we went through the door next to it, obviously the overseer’s lair. It was dark and the walls seemed to close in on us as I took point, the monk in our group behind me as backup…but she really just wanted to enjoy the view, if you know what I mean.” The man winked and nudged one of the other two men, Hakim, with his elbow.
Looks like character transfer is the phrase of the day. If you want to move to Rexxar and you're on Suramar, Draenor, Feathermoon, or Windrunner, you need to get busy. The transfer will end on Thursday, February 16. That's tomorrow.
Now, I'm happy for all of the people who get to transfer their characters to new realms to alleviate all of that clogging. However, I'd be extra happy if Blizzard could get off their duffs and fix the lag problem on Sen'jin which is a new server. It was unplayable last night and nobody wants to pay for a game that horks you off because you can't play it.
Dramatic news has rippled across the EverQuest 2 playerbase. Like a kid smacking together 2 different colors of play-do, many of the lower population servers are being merged together. How will it pan out? Nobody is sure but it affects the psychology and morale of the players. Savanja takes a look at the merge and what it means:
The benefits that I can see from this radical decision seem obvious to me, and I gather these points were on the minds of the EQ2 “Gods” when they were contemplating the shake up of the entire playerbase. I’m certain that this was not an easy decision for the developers to come to, as they had to have known that people would generally freak out at this kind of news. And quite honestly, nothing is scarier than a angry gamer.
