EverQuest II News

  • If you've been waiting for the new adventure pack but you aren't certain if it's worth the cost. WhoDigs has a preview.

To prepare for Echoes of Faydwer, The Fallen Dynasty adventure pack will add content onto Kingdom of Sky’s end game. Developed in conjunction with SOE’s Taiwan studio, The Fallen Dynasty Adventure Pack promises to deliver the same downloadable story-rich content seen in the previously released The Bloodline Chronicles and The Splitpaw Saga, but this time with Asian influenced adventure zones, weapons, tradeskill rewards, as well as all new quests.

The Fallen Dynasty introduces EQII players to a mysterious city shrouded in secrets and once ruled by a powerful entity. The Whistling Fist, an ancient order of monks, guard its veiled past, but seek adventurers brave enough to explore the mysteries of this forgotten civilization.

  • A new Crier is up.

Hark! Be that the Town Crier I spy? He brings us tidings from the far reaches of Norrath's influence. Be they dismal, strange, or otherwise? Let us observe as he waxes eloquent about current affairs.

    # The Town Crier stopped by the nuker of all things living or not Aggro me, only this time he wasn't nuking. Aggo Me was enjoying a video he found titled EQII Parkour. The Town Crier enjoyed it!
    # In the land of OGaming the Town Crier came upon some useful information that he thought he'd shout back to all. The Claymore Quest guide has been shown for all passers by!
    # The Town Crier travels far and wide and this week he stopped to visit the Caster's Realm. With a good chuckle and a smile or 3, The Town Crier sends back the news of a new Jethal comic "Tradeskill Blues".
    # Where hammers weigh in at Ten Tons discussions are abundant. A visit with Slide discovers the "Repetition of Gaming" while Kiara explains why "I can't believe it's not Butter!".For those looking for a little aide and assitance the "Heritage Quests Compendium" should fit the bill nicely and those looking for class help might want to look into the "Troubador's Songbook".

  • RUN! It's a purple con 3 up-arrow Curt Schilling!

In a PR move that will most assuredly generate better karma than offering a year-long modeling contract to a real-life Queen Antonia lookalike, EverQuest 2 will soon boast a new in-game enemy that fights for charity, former MLB hurler Curt Schilling.
The World Series MVP and longtime EQ2 player will man a mob aptly named "Curt Schilling" and wander about terrorizing the playerbase. Every time he's defeated, SOE shells out a little more money to help fight ALS (also known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease").
Check out the "Curt Schilling and SOE fight ALS" press release right here. Then log on June 5th-7th and gank for a good cause, EQ2 players!

  • It's always interesting to read what happened to the dev's at E3. It's not long but amusing in it's briefness.

E3 from the Cave of Blackguard
Well, I’m officially back from E3 and in action again at work. It was a great E3 from my perspective, but this write-up may not be quite as interesting as you would hope because I lived in an isolated world this year--I probably walked around E3 outside of my booth for a total of two hours, but that’s okay because inside the SOE booth it was relatively quiet and comfortable.

    Read it all here.

  • Eurogamer plays the dating game with the upcoming EQ2 expansions

Eurogamer announced that the high level whet-your-whistle adventure pack "The Fallen Dynasty" will be available in June for a digital download cost of $8, which will be followed in mid-November by a full-scale retail expansion: "Echoes of Faydwer" for around $40.

Anyway, the new expansion's called Echoes of Faydwer, and will be the game's third proper expansion when it pitches up in mid November for around $40. It introduces the Fae as a playable race - they're an enchanted lot of winged creatures, from the arboreal city of Kelethin, which will be a new starting city. (Arboreal means they live in the trees, Mum.)

Get your Faydwer expansion pack fix (only 6.5 months more!) at Eurogamer, and be sure to check out our EQ2 - TenTonHammer community for all the latest!

  • Just when you got used to paying the old price, they change it on you. Oddly enough, I've always thought that it was $24.99. So.. I guess it's not bad news for me?

Due to the increased costs of operating the game service for the games included in the Station Access subscription package, we will be increasing our subscription rates in June. Effective June 1, 2006, the new monthly subscription rate will be $24.99/month. While this announcement may be unpleasant, we have added several games to the Station Access subscription package and the cost of operating the game service for the games included in the Station Access subscription package has increased significantly since we launched Station Access. This change will help us achieve our goal of seeing that every player has a consistently enjoyable experience in our game worlds. You don't have to do a thing; you will automatically be migrated to the new billing structure under your current subscription plan when your current subscription plan expires. Subscription rates are subject to tax and value-added taxes, as applicable.

New Station Access™ subscription rate as of June 1, 2006:
    # $24.99 per Month

Station Access subscriptions are recurring, meaning you will continue to be billed at the appropriate interval, until you affirmatively cancel your subscription.
Subscriptions are subject to tax and value-added tax, as applicable.

Please note: The subscription charges are in addition to the cost of the games that are part of the Station Access subscription package. All game software is sold separately.

  • Next Gen Previews E3 SOE Lineup

Of SOE's MMO entries for this year's E3, Roman-themed Gods and Heroes was a given. Two relative surprises, however, are 2 - count 'em, 2 - new expansions for EverQuest II: the adventure pack "The Fallen Dynasty" and the fullscale expansion hearkening back to the original EverQuest continent of Faydwer: "Echoes of Faydwer".

t’s not all about the upper levels, though – Echoes of Faydwer is the next full-fledged expansion pack for EverQuest II and for a change, it features new content for all players regardless of level. There’re twenty new zones, forty new creatures, 350 quests, and a new playable race, the Fae. There’re new options for housing, new items to collect, more skills to learn – everything a good expansion pack needs to survive in this workaday world, but now it’s for everyone to enjoy right off the bat. It’s a nice way to entice new players, and with new places like castles rife with vampires and neat arboreal cities, there’s plenty for more these players to see.

Check out SOE's full E3 lineup at NextGen. And for more SOE goodness, be sure to stop by our EQ2 - TenTonHammer community site.
