World of Warcraft + Age of Conan: Unchained Features

  • Age of Conan Progress Report

IGN has a new preview of Age of Conan posted. It includes some great screenshots!

Let's make things perfectly clear. Age of Conan is not for children. In fact, Crom may actually hate children, we're not sure. This is an M rated title for just about every descriptor in the ESRB rating system. Heads are cut off, drugs are taken, booze is consumed, and for all we know, dogs and cats are off in the bushes making babies. The Conan mythos is adult themed through and through. It's about an assault on the senses, wicked attention to pleasure seeking, and those who take pleasure in others pain. It's a brutal world to live in and we can't wait to be part of it all.

  • Maestro of 'Warcraft' on 'directing' players

The Hollywood Reporter posted an interview with Blizzard's VP of Game Design, Rob Pardo.

In the two years since "WoW" was released in November, 2004, the game has managed to nab a 53% world market share, which translates to well over $1 billion in revenue. As Blizzard's vp of game design, Rob Pardo is the man ultimately responsible for making it happen. Which is why, this year, "Time" magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

  • Lots of New Screenshots!

Vault Network has posted a preview of Age of Conan today. It includes lots of new screenshots as well as a look at the upcoming game.

It appears that the game will begin in a traditional fashion, with an extensive character-creation editor for shaping the look of your in-game persona. Sliders enable minute changes to your character’s appearance, and the results are quite realistic—certainly more lifelike than most current-day MMOs.

Interestingly enough, there’s not a lot of early determination of your character’s “history” or attributes. After you choose a gender and craft your character’s appearance, you only have the option to select a class from Aquilonian, Cimmerian or Stygian. No skill-point allocations or other determinations are thrown at you. It’s only when you achieve Level 5 that you can choose from an archetype: Mage, Priest, Rogue or Soldier.

  • Age of Conan Preview Tells All

Voodoo Extreme has posted an interesting preview of Age of Conan. Among other things we learn that there is much to see when it comes to character creation!

Gaute started off by creating a new character from scratch, which turned out to be a smooth experience. First, you choose your race and gender, then you're able to customize how your avatar looked by moving around various sliders. To give us an idea of what the character creator was capable of, Gaute showed us he was able to clone Arnold Schwarzenegger's evil twin in about two minutes. One of the more intriguing—and bound to be popular—options was the "Arse" adjuster, which adjusts the size and shape of your character's derriere. Things suddenly became much more interesting.

  • Hit or Miss?

GamerZines has posted their preview of the Burning Crusades. You'll want to see what they have to say about the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion.

World of Warcraft is quite popular, apparently. So the developers have this expansion pack that a few people will probably be interested in.

OK, we can't type any more with a straight face. The Burning Crusade is of course the most hotly anticipated expansion to the unbelievably huge World of Warcraft. Raising the level cap to 70, introducing new races, new quests, new areas and so much more, The Burning Crusade is so close and yet so achingly far away still.

  • Burning Crusade Uncovered

IGN has posted a preview of Wow's upcoming expansion, Burning Crusades.

With the level cap being raised from 60 to 70, you can forget you have to eat actual food all over again. With the grind to 70 likely to take at least a couple weeks for even the most hardcore players, it's quite exceptional that Blizzard has managed to keep it feeling fresh. This is in no small part thanks to many creative new talents, special abilities and spells that you gain as you progress.

  • An In Depth Look At Age of Conan

The Game Musketeers has posted an interview with Erling Ellingsen about Age of Conan...

With an original system of single-player game merging into a MMO environment. How will the single-player experience enhance the MMO game?

The way we see it, MMOs can be very intimidating at first. They lack many of the gameplay mechanics that draw the player in from the start of most games, such as story that really takes you by the hand and gets you going. Stories that can shake your world and it feel like you are really something other than just another peasant out to kill rabbits. We wanted to incorporate that into the MMO genre, and thus we created what we refer to as Age of Conan's single-player part. Actually, though, it is not truly single-player all the time.

  • Another Look At Age of Conan

GamersInfo.net has posted another look at the upcoming Age of Conan.

I know, I know – it’s been two months since I saw this game at DragonCon. But Age of Conan is probably the MMORPG that I’m looking forward to the most, along with one other one (Warhammer), so I’ve wanted to make sure it’ll be a good preview.

FunCom was on-hand at DragonCon to give a preview of Age of Conan to the people there. In addition, I had a chance to speak to Ole Herbjornsen, the lead developer for the game, for a few minutes after the presentation.

  • Hands On Impressions of Burning Crusade

Pro-G has posted their hands on impressions of the Burning Crusades. Keep reading to see what they think of the upcoming expansion to World of Warcraft.

The Burning Crusade presents an interesting conundrum for World of Warcraft players: drop your existing high level character for the allure of starting one of two new races, or keep on with your uber-equipped killing machine and brave the shattered realm of Outland.

So far, most beta players have opted for the high level rewards of Outland over starting a new character. But this isn't to the detriment of TBC's two new races, the manga-esque Blood Elves and the big blue aliens the Draenei - both have aspects that have drawn concern from the typically vocal WoW fan base, but overall are shaping up nicely.

  • FiringSquad Previews The Burning Crusade

FiringSquad.com has posted a preview of the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, The Burning Crusade.

The Blood Elves are the new Horde race, Blizzard’s answer to the calls for attractive models and Paladins for the Horde. Continuing the story from WarCraft III, the Blood Elves have split from the Alliance by making common cause with Illidan. Their lands and Silvermoon, their city, lay in ruins. The passage of the Scourge has quite literally left a mark on what were once the beautiful lands of the elves.
