  • New Burning Crusade Coverage Page & Outland Map

Autumn is in the air, and we're inching ever closer to the highly anticipated winter 2006 launch of World of Warcraft's first expansion: The Burning Crusade. With that in mind, we've consolidated our Burning Crusade coverage into a single area on the WoW - Ten Ton Hammer site and even thrown in a detailed, easily printable, non-flash version of the Outland map recently released by Blizzard! We have plenty of articles planned for this section, so check back often!

"In World of Warcraft's first retail expansion, the forces of the Burning Legion have returned to wage war upon the races of Azeroth as the mightiest adventurers from the Horde and Alliance journey into the Dark Portal to discover the shattered lands beyond. This highly anticipated expansion will raise the level cap from 60 to 70, see the introduction of two new races (Blood Elves for the Horde, Draenei for the Alliance - with level 1-20 starting areas to match), a huge new continent (Outland, for players level 58-70). We can also look forward to an entirely revamped PvP system, a new crafting profession (jewelcrafting, which cuts gems for the new "slotted" weapons), selectable dungeon difficulty settings for Outland dungeons, hundreds of new monsters, quests, and items, and finally: flying mounts!

  • CVG joins Blizzard's senior VP Frank Pearce for an in-depth look at the new races and issues from the outstanding expansion!

CVG has posted this preview of World of Warcrafts's upcoming expansion, The Burning Crusade. Find out what they learned while Frank Pearce gives them a test run of the game.

Aesthetically, whatkind of World Of Warcraft character do you go for? Do you like the big, no-nonsense, tough-guy orcs and taurens - the kind that could splinter bones with their little fingers and don't get invited to dinner parties? Maybe you don't like straying too far from the norm and prefer humans. Sensible, dependable, no unnecessary horns, lovely little bit of Chaucerian countryside and scones for tea. Perhaps you prefer something a bit nicer to look at, a lithe female night-elf with a chain-mail bikini and a generous nature when it comes to giving out lap-dances?

  • WoW Ten Ton Hammer's Guide to Grouping - Update

Last week we launched a new guide, a guide to grouping in instances. Since it's launch I have already gotten lots of posative feedback, and made a few minor additions. Today, I launch the rest of the guide featureing items to consider for each role and class as well as what not to do and horror stories. I would love to expand these sections with additional content submitted by our community members, so if you have more tips for others or some funny or horrifying grouping stories, send them in!

Now that you understand the basics of working in a group, its time to look at some of the finer points. What I detail in this section is all the little things that help groups work. Whether it is what a tank needs to understand about his task, or what the other players need to remember about the tanks task so that it is easier for him to do it successfully. Much of this section is simply point form items to remember.

  • WoW "Transportation Basics" Guide Updated

We've updated our "Transportation Basics" guide to include valuable links and information, including a teaser about flying mounts in the upcoming "Burning Crusade" expansion.

"With the arrival of the Burning Crusade expansion, we'll see flying mounts for the first time flying around the Outlands. These special mounts are used not only for speedy travel but also to reach special level 70 dungeons at heights unreachable by normal means. Though flight is only possible in the Outlands, these mounts can walk along the ground as well, making them useful anywhere in Azeroth."

  • TrustedReviews Offers a Preview

World of Warcraft's upcoming expansion, The Burning Crusade is the subject of the latest update on TrustedReviews site. They offer a preview today that gives their view of the expansion.

Unless you’ve been living in a gaming vacuum for the past couple of years, you will have heard of World of Warcraft. To call WoW a phenomenon is an understatement of epic proportions, and to be honest I don’t think that anyone, Blizzard included, realised just how massive this game was going to be. There are always stories in the media about obsessive gamers that lose whole weekends, or even weeks to their favourite game, but WoW took this sickness to another level!

Get clicking to find out how they scored this preview! Do you agree with their postion? Let us know in the WoW Ten Ton Hammer forums today.

  • Zul'Gurub Boss Guide Update - Hakkar

Many of the boss strategies have changed drastically since the initial release of Zul'Gurub. Over time we have updated most of the guides and today thanks to one of our readers, the Hakkar guide got its turn.

Hakkar's first life drain is at 90 seconds into the fight. At about 45 seconds until the life drain a Son of Hakkar must be sheeped on the center boards with a mark above his head waiting to be slaughtered. Before 15 seconds until the life drain the Son must be killed and everyone must get poisoned by the poison cloud quickly and move quickly back into their positions to avoid Corrupted Blood hitting the entire raid. The only person that doesn't get poisoned is the tank with aggro, that person must keep Hakkar away from the gathered raid. A Son of Hakkar needs to be on the platform and sheeped 45 seconds before every life drain.

  • This game has no class...

Ever wonder why games have classes? Real life doesn't, we are not born and have our destiny set at that instant. We make it up as we go along, changing and adapting to what life throws at us, and for the most part it seems to work ok. With that in mind, today I tackle the topic of classes in games. Are they a requirement or are some games better without them? I look at my two current favorite MMOs and compare their approach to classes, which are very different. Which is more appealing, a game with many specialized classes or a game with many jack-of-all-trades?

The two MMO’s I am referring to are World of Warcraft and Saga of Ryzom. As all of the readers here know, WoW is generally considered to have specialized classes. While not absolute due to the many hybrid classes or classes that can do more than one thing, it is still a class driven game. For example, no matter how hard you try, a warrior just can’t heal successfully, and a Priest can’t tank (although I have seen a few poor misguided souls try). This is pretty much the standard for MMO’s. There are a few specialized classes and a few hybrid classes, but all have very well defined roles and limitations.

  • WoW Ten Ton Hammer's Guide to Naxxramas Updated

We now have a guide on defeating Maexxna, the last boss within the Spider Wing inside of Naxxramas. We include all of the information you need to take out this evil enemy and continue towards the ultimate goal, defeating Kel'Thuzad!

"There are three phases to this battle that repeat. This is an endurance match. You need to clear each phase before the next one starts or else you'll start wearing down your raid. When people start dieing then it gets harder and harder to keep up. Eventually your raid will wear out. So you need to be able to deal with each phase in a
    quick manner."
