World of Warcraft + The Chronicles of Spellborn Features, Guides, and more

  • Blizzard unveils the first details of its upcoming player-versus-player enhancements.

IGN posted an article with all the details and a few screenshots on this upcoming update to World of Warcraft.

But the big news today is the scoop on world PvP objectives. Whereas before it usually boiled down to getting "wtfpwned" by roving bands of level 60 characters in Stranglethorn Vale, Hillsbrad Foothills and other areas where the victims couldn't possibly be a threat to their assailants, the new world PvP content will take place in Silithus and Eastern Plaguelands, although it may eventually branch out to other areas. Silithus and EPL are the highest-level zones in the game right now anyway (Deadwind Pass is too small to count, really), so it will generally be level 55-60 players bashing away at each other.

Keep reading to see how you may soon be able to join in the World PvP! Check back to WoW Ten Ton Hammer for all the latest updates and news.

  • Blackrock Depths, Upper and Lower Blackrock Spire, Stratholme and More!

We have yet more updates today to our where to adventure guide! Today we focus on high-level instances and have updates for Blackrock Depths, Upper and Lower Blackrock Spire, Stratholme, Scholomance, Dire Maul, Zul'Gurub, Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj, Onyzia's Lair, and the Molten Core!

Blackrock Depths (BRD) is located in Blackrock Mountain between the Searing Gorge and the Burning Steppes and is meant for levels 50-56. There are many quests located in BRD and it is an excellent place to level when you are mid 50's. Blackrock Depths also contains the entrance point that must be reached to access the Molten Core for the first time.

The instance is full of Dark Iron Dwarves and elementals. Most of the quests revolve around the Dark Iron Dwarves or the various elementals in the area. For a complete list of quests in the zone check out our TenTonHammer database entries for Blackrock Depths .

For miners there are several places that you can mine dark iron in the instance. It is also where you must travel to to create dark iron bars and to turn them into items, so prepare for multiple trips back here.

  • WoW Macro Guide Updated: New Macro Examples

No MMO has ever offered players the level of customization that World of Warcraft does. One important way Blizzard puts the power in the player community's hands is through macros, small customizable sets of scripted instructions that keep your head in the game by sparing you mouseclicks. Ten Ton Hammer scours the interwebs to bring you the best we could find for the latest addition to the WoW Slash Commands and Macros Guide.

"Jump to Low-Res: If you're ever in a raid or instance situation and your system is dragging (or maybe you're getting some Orgrimmar or Ironforge lag), this is a quick macro that will lower the biggest performance-hogging settings. Experiment with a separate macro to restore your settings to what you're used to (max is 777,2,1).

    /z SetWorldDetail(0)

  • More Thoughts On Where To Adventure

In our quest to have the most useful zone guide out there, we have even more updates today! Today we look at several level 41-50 zones and instances. Updates to The Blasted Lands, The Hinterlands, Searing Gorge, Uldaman and Zul'Farrak have all just been uploaded to our Where to Adventure Guide.

Formerly part of the Black Morass swamp, the Blasted lands is the crater that remains from when Medivh opened the Dark Portal. Filled with demons and corrupted wildlife, the Blasted Lands are a high level zone. The zone has both a Horde and an Alliance stronghold, called Dreadmaul Hold and Nethergarde Keep respectively. To the far south is the Tainted Scar and in the south east is the Dark Portal. The whole zone is very desolate featuring nothing much more than red rock desert and mountains.

  • The Burning Crusades Brings New Professtions

On the official World of Warcraft site, an article has been posted detailing one of the new professions expected to be included in the forthcoming expansion, The Burning Crusades. Get a look at Jewelcrafting...

World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade will introduce a lot of new features to expand the game in many interesting and fun ways. One of these additions is the introduction of a new profession: jewelcrafting.

Jewelcrafters learn the art of creating beautiful jewelry and trinkets from metals and rare gems. By processing the raw ore mined from the various deposits and mineral veins, jewelcrafters can extract gems from the ore which they can then use for their craft. Although miners sometimes find gems while gathering ore, jewelcrafters mostly rely on their prospecting skills to get more of the precious stones.

Find out more about this profession and let us know what you think on our forums at WoW Ten Ton Hammer!

  • Actiontrip Takes a Look at The Burning Crusades posted a preview of WoW's forthcoming expansion, The Burning Crusades. Did they like what they saw or think that it needs to head back to the drawing board? Keep reading to find out.

It goes without saying, but yes, World of Warcraft is the most successful MMORPG of all time. It is the 800-lb gorilla of MMORPGs, but what’s striking is that WoW is the first game to truly bridge the gap between hardcore gamers and the mainstream crowds. Blizzard’s giant cash cow is becoming a part of popular culture, supplanting The Sims as the “it” game of choice for both gamers and non-gamers alike.
