    Hooked on Games has posted a preview of WoW's soon to be released expansion The Burning Crusade. Keep reading to see how they think this expansion is shaping up.

    The first new race being introduced to the Horde by the expansion is the Blood Elves. The Blood Elves are outcasts of there native homelands, driven out and stripped of their eternal life after they became corrupted by the very magic in which they sought out to possess. Currently the class selection available for the Blood elves will be Rogue, Mage, Warlock, Priest, and Warrior. Their racial traits will be centered around using magic. These traits will include Mana Tap, which gives the Blood Elf the power to drain mana from an opponent, and Arcane Torrent, which silences an opponent for two seconds.

  • Frank Pierce Talks with German Site

    WorldofWar.net and their partnersite WorldofWar.de have published an interview with Blizzard's Frank Pierce. This interview took place during the EU Press tour.

    You decided to give the horde the Paladin and the community's response to the news was massive. People are concerned about the balancing. Are there any differences in the classes depending on the faction? what's is the future for the game as there appears to be no difference.

    There won't be any notable distinction between the classes available to the Alliance and Horde but in terms of PvP, battlegrounds and the war and all that stuff, it's all still there. I don't think that because we have this class cross-over that we're going to see any drop-off in the amount of PvP, because at the end of the day, they are still warring factions. I still hate the Alliance as much as I did before :)

    Certainly, the community was very vocal about the announcement and that's healthy. We want to hear what the community has to say, they wouldn't be so vocal if they didn't care about the game and so in that respect it's good to know they care so much about the game.

  • Light Shed on the New Race

    RPG Vault sat down with Game Designer David Ford to talk about the upcoming Serpent's Spine expansion for SOE's Everquest. In part one of this interview we learn about the new race, Drakkin, which are part human and part dragon. We also get a hint at some of the new features that will be included in the expansion.

    EverQuest: The Serpent's Spine is the next expansion pack for Sony Online Entertainment's landmark persistent state world. Aimed to be available via digital distribution in September, it will feature the addition of the Drakkin as the first new playable race in a few years. The official announcement unveiling the product earlier this month also mentioned some other notable elements. For instance, Crescent Reach is described as a fully functioning city complete with merchant, quest, combat and tradeskill areas. The Serpent Spine Mountains area will offer content for every level, from newbies up to the level cap, which will be raised to 75. There will also be new zones, enemies, abilities and more. Since we were immediately keen to know further information and details, we were fortunate in being able to set up the chance to question Game Designer David Ford.

    MMORPG.com: Are there any expansions (such as Lost Dungeons of Norrath) you expect that can be unlocked out of sequence?

    Chris Lena: We will have a website that will track the progress of the unlocking of expansions. Even at day one this timeline will give you some hints but we are not revealing exactly how the unlocking will work.

    ComputerandVideoGames.com had a chance to sit and talk with Rob Pardo about World of Warcraft's much awaited expansion The Burning Crusades.

    World of Warcraft is such an unstoppable behemoth of a success story, it hardly even needs an introduction anymore. Still, there's plenty that developer Blizzard is keeping tight-lipped about regarding the forthcoming expansion Burning Crusade, so we'll seize any chance we get to weed out further nuggets of fact.

    We sat down with Blizzard's VP of game design, Rob Pardo, to probe his impenetrable cavern of revelations regarding just what we can expect when Azeroth's dark portals finally open, the benefits offered by the expansion's two new races and, of course, the new level 70 cap. Read on for more.

    MMORPG.com has an interview posted with Chris Lena, a Producer on EverQuest. In this interview questions are answered regarding the new "progression" server and how it will bring the classic feel back to old school and newer players alike.

    Carolyn Koh quizes the folks behind the brand new EverQuest "Progression Server", which lets players play EverQuest the way it was originally presented to the players. We talk to Chris Lena, a Producer on EverQuest, about this.

    MMORPG.com: There’s been a lot of interest in the Progression Server and I’m going to ask the $64 dollar question. Why? Why did you think that such a concept would work?

    Chris Lena: There are a lot of reasons for this server idea, but for me it was a fairly simple solution to a problem EverQuest has had for a long time. People always say to me that they would love to try EverQuest or that they used to play and would like to get back into it but they feel overwhelmed because of all of the content that has been added. They feel like they could never catch up and just lose their gumption. The Progression Server is a way for all of those people to get on this new server at level 1 and progress through all the content together. The amount they have to learn when they start is bite-sized. But the Progression Server has become a lot of things to a lot of people and you can find dozens of different reasons on our forums as to why players are interested in this concept.

    Q. When designing quests do you use usability testing to see how different cultures would interpret them? - Douglas Meinhardt from the Uldum realm.

    A. Localization and usability are one of our top priorities when we design quests.We have dedicated localization teams who translate game content for each region. When something is found to be off color or unidentifiable, they make changes to insure that the text works in that particular region.

  • Burning for more info on the WoW expansion?

    GamingExcellence offers its take on the late 2006 expansion to the ridiculously popular fantasy MMO World of Warcraft. Included is a more detailed look at the "world event" that will open the "Dark Portal" from Azeroth to Outland than I've seen anywhere.

    So what is offered to devoted players in The Burning Crusade? First and foremost on anyone's list would be the hundreds of hours of new gameplay in a completely new area for high-level characters. This begins with the opening of the Dark Portal from Azeroth to Outland, which will be similar to a world-event, but will not require that all players be in the same area to experience it. Although the details were sketchy at this point, Blizzard has stated that regardless of where you may happen to be on the world map when this occurs on your server, and regardless of your level, you will experience something akin to hell freezing over. Or the gates to hell opening up and unleashing monsters like you have never seen before. Or the announcement of Starcraft 2 followed by a server crash. Okay, so the last one was a stretch, but I assure you that whatever does happen, you will want to be online for it, even if your character is still only level 25 or so.

  • What does it take to run a WoW raiding guild?

    With CEOs consulting with World of Warcraft guild leaders , WoW-TenTonHammer's Messiah sought out one of these paragons of leadership advice for an interview. He spoke with Bind, a guild master for "Visions of Anarchy" on the Dragonblight server. Visions of Anarchy is a large and successful Horde raiding guild.

    Messiah: I hear a lot of "we" in your responses, what exactly is the guild structure and how do you break up duties?
    Bind: The guild is basically me and a band of dedicated officers. We all pitch to get all the work done. Between running a raid, and doing the points, all officers get pretty beat up after a long week of raiding. I refer to we since it is really a big team effort with all of use doing a ton of work to keep things running smoothly.
