World of Warcraft + Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Features

  • Vivendi's stock price is like the energizer bunny on an upward trend...

In addition to game sales rising 19% last quarter for Vivendi, Gamasutra just announced that World of Warcraft has hit the 9.3 million player mark. It's like an unstoppable force of nature.

Publisher Vivendi has announced that its games division's sales have rised nearly 19 percent to 216 million euros ($315.2 million) in its third quarter, on the "continued momentum" of World of Warcraft and initial sales of Massive's World in Conflict.

  • China just got some good old American competition.

The N.C. State student newspaper is reporting on a local business that has set up shop near their campus. Instead of selling college staples like junk food or "tobacco pipes," however, they're selling a friendly neighborhood power-leveling service for World of Warcraft. It's amusing that almost every student quoted in the story thinks it's a silly business.

There's a new business set to open Thursday on Hillsborough Street, but this one doesn't sell food, books or print cartridges.

  • Not too Harmonious, if You Ask Me

As a precursor to tomorrow's last quest guide in the Gardens of Xai'Liu series, Ralsu has provided us with a fearsome named mob. While she may appear to be nice on the outside, make no mistake of her intentions. With plenty of healing power, be prepared to chew through her health bar more than once before finishing her off!

  • It's so pretty...

The Vanguard team has given the desert city of Khal in Qalia a little (well, a big) makeover!

The city of Khal , an oasis of sorts in the northern sands of Qalia, has always been a magnificent, bustling city. The Vanguard art team has been working diligently to ensure that Khal is properly represented as the "jewel of the desert" that it should be. In the second half of Game Update 3, players will be able to experience the city of Khal in a whole new light!

  • I'm Afraid to Ask what the Reanimated Part Refers To

One of the best parts of Vanguard is the gear, and Dalmarus brings us some nice looking adventuring gear submitted by Illusory. This is a nice set of mid-level armor for any medium armor wearer. Combining strength, dexterity, constitution, vitality, and over 700 hit points, it should be all the rage this season!

  • Burn. Freeze. Zap. That about covers it.

MPOGD has a feature up which takes a good look at the Mages of World of Warcraft. If you're only somewhat familiar with them, it's a good introduction to what the class can do and the high-end gear they enjoy.

  • Imagine Batman and Robin in Fantasy Armor

Last week, our Vanguard community site team discussed the best duos in Vanguard, focusing on tanks and offensive fighters. This time, Ralsu and Dalmarus explore healers and offensive fighters:

A healer may have to work a little harder in sustained battles paired with an offensive fighter, but the shortened duration of most battles should give them an opportunity to be more than a heal bot as well.

In this week's Vanguard newsletter, Dalmarus discusses changes of the past, present, and future.

Even though winter is fast approaching for those of us in North America, this wind has the sweet scent of a spring breeze – filled with the promises of rebirth and growth.
