World of Warcraft + Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Features

  • A Chat with Eliona!

Vanguard Spheres has had a chance to talk to the ever busy Michelle Butler. She is the head of the customer support department at Sigil Games Online.

If any of you knew Michelle Butler (otherwise known as Elionia) in Norrath, you know that this gal works just as hard as anyone else at SigilGames! Never one to stand in the wings and let the others do the dirty work, Michelle is busy putting together a crack team of GMs and filling a hole in lore that includes the group known as the Crimson Fellowship who will work closely with the GMs to support the people of Telon.

I "chased" Michelle around a bit to get the chance to speak to her as a closing interview to our first GM series. Glip tried to trip me up, but finally called off his garden gnome and let me get close enough to do this. Quickly, then, let's see what we can get....

  • Sprawl's Scrawl - First Impressions of Closed Beta

WoW Vault has posted a preview of WoW's upcoming expansion, The Burning Crusade. This preview is full of impressions from closed beta, so don't miss out!

One of the first things you notice upon logging into Burning Crusade beta is a number of quick popup boxes that indict that the system is scanning for viruses and the like. It's good to see that Blizzard is taking active steps at keeping a blacklist of known exploits. Once again the new player is presented with a view of the Dark Portal, this time from the Outland side. At this point, if you haven't upgraded your account with a key, do not expect to login.

  • What is Outlands like? What are the two new race areas like? How is the new loot?

Voodoo Extreame has a preview to answer all of these questions.

The Burning Crusade closed beta is finally out, and after much gnashing of teeth, I have stopped playing long enough to be able to write up some "hands on" impressions of the game. I do not want to bore you all with the details of every little minute detail of what has gone into The Burning Crusade expansion pack, and the truth is, a lot of things have been beat to death in other previews.

Get clicking to learn more. We're waiting for your take on the Burning Crusade and all things WoW in the new Ten Ton Hammer Forums. Speak up and share your thoughts.

  • World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Updated Hands-On - The Two New Races

GameSpot has taken the time to look at the blood elf and draenei characters that will appear in the upcoming expansion The Burning Crusade.

Thousands of players from around the globe log into the game daily, and nightly (and daily, and nightly, and daily, and nightly) to play as a wizard, warrior, or thief in the colorful Warcraft fantasy universe. And (hopefully) later this year, the studio will release The Burning Crusade, the expansion pack for the game which will add plenty of high-level content for veterans as well as two new playable fantasy races to build new characters with. We took the opportunity to get in-depth with the two new races, the fanatical blood elves of the monstrous Horde faction and the mystical draenei characters of the noble Alliance.

Get clicking to read more. What has you burning to try out this new expansion? Let us know in the Ten Ton Hammer Forums after you get up to date on all the latest at our WoW Ten Ton Hammer Community site.

  • Sigil’s Brad McQuaid talks about the state of Vanguard, as the game enters the third beta phase

GameZone has just posted their interview with Brad McQuiad. They had a chance to speak with him at the media event that was held last weekend.

Question: It’s been six months since we last saw the game. What significant changes, generally speaking, have gone into the development of the game between then and now?

Brad: We’re totally 100% in the production mode; we are just cranking out content, the art team is much, much faster so we are producing more fantasy, more fantastic, more interesting new areas, and making them more quickly. The design team has gotten their tools down and are really getting a lot of new content into the game. The switch from beta two to three was huge – we’ve let a lot more people into the beta and we’ve learned a lot, so much from beta one to two and reacted to it and saw a retention, people being happy and enjoying beta three.

  • Exclusive Interview: Dungeon Delving with Bill Fisher

Remember back in the day when you used to feel a genuine tingle of fear when you entered a dungeon in your favorite MMO? Sigil, the developers of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, has promised to bring back dungeon crawling, as well as the dungeon fear factor, in a big way. We interviewed Sigil Senior Game Designer, Bill Fisher, and came up with some intriguing details on dungeon delving.

[Bill Fisher]: To put the fun, challenge, and scare-factor back [into dungeon crawls], we are making our NPCs a bit harder than some people today may be used to. Areas that cause you to bite it if you do not control your situation will be more common in Vanguard.

We will continue to tweak the power of certain types of epic NPC spells that require you to counter or suffer horribly, melee stances that maim and debilitate the players that must be reacted to, the frequency of runners, early runners, and other situations that the players will actually need to pay attention to in the group settings.

  • Get To Know Ian Conway a.k.a. GM Aughos

Vanguard Spheres has posted another in their series of GM Interviews. This time we get to look into the world of GM Aughos. we sit with Ian Conway, (otherwise known as GM Aughos). He proudly proclaims himself the "the only GM who doesn’t have an Elf," so let's see what kind of responses we get. This could be very interesting, don't you think?

Q: You and Verityn are two of the newer GMs. Are you adjusting to Sigil's way of life well?

So far, the transition has been painless. The staff here is extremely dedicated to the project and their fellow GMs. I was welcomed in and made part of the team by everyone and I have felt at home since day 1. In a nutshell, I have no complaints. Everyday though I have to remind myself that this isn’t a dream, I have wanted to be a part of Sigil for quite sometime now and being here is as good as I had hope it would be.
