World of Warcraft + Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Features

  • EQ Too?.
Vanguard Gate has posted a Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Interview featuring Bill Fisher. They laughed. They cried. They talked to some guy, and here is what he said:

"Recently it was mentioned that you spent quite sometime in looking at persian/arabian/egyptian myths/stories in crafting the continent of Qalia. Would you like to elaborate on which myths in particular you were drawn towards?"

  • Saga of Heroes, not to be confused with Saga of those everyday peon type guys.
WorthPlaying has a preview of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes locked and loaded. Of all the things that they could have written, we are almost sure they wrote this:

"The buzz around Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is immense. Sigil games is made up of some of the development team behind EverQuest, including CEO Brad McQuaid, former EverQuest producer. Sigil is designing Vanguard around the notion that today's MMOs are becoming too kind and gentle, so they want this game to be as hardcore as EverQuest. The bad-old-days of long corpse runs and xp loss (and possible de-leveling) upon death are back. To those who look back on EQ with nostalgic eyes I utter this warning: Be careful what you ask for, you might just get it."

  • Two million subscribers and one interview. has an interview with the Blizzard development and it's all about, you guessed it, World of Warcraft. They may have written this:

"Are there any plans at Blizzard to create more individual avatar styles than there are available now?  Could changes like new hairstyles, tattoos, scarring or equipment dye be worked into the current art and code?"

  • Vanguard takes a look at crafting. Fighting trees.....Mmmmm.
Vanguard Crafters has a interview with Salim Grant posted covering crafting in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. Somebody wrote this. We think it was them:

"On a recent visit to Sigil Games, we attempted to track down Salim Grant, the lead designer in charge of the crafting system in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.  Of course, since Salim fears me, he was absent that day.  Or he had a very important family commitment, I can't remember which.  Anyway, he was gracious enough to grant a request to send in some follow up questions which the reporter was too startstruck to ask the other devs when her [sic] was there."

  • An interview and advertisement in one.
Creative Labs interviewed Blizzard's Shane Dabiri about the sounds of World of Warcraft. It's possible that they wrote this:

"Our goal was to create an epic aural experience. With the world so vast, detailed, and beautiful, it was the sound team's job to make sure the audio matched what the players were seeing on screen. By creating rich ambient loops and having beautiful composed symphonic music, we believe that goal was achieved."

  • Vanguard plays look-see.
MMOGinfo has posted a preview of Sigil's upcoming title, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. It's possible that they wrote this:

"Imagine a huge and detailed world of swords and spells, dragons and horsemen, incredible swords and coffers full of treasures; a world where a great variety of intelligent races and creatures born, lives and dies. A place where the players can follow different ways to progress becoming adventurers, retailers or workers. Welcome to Vanguard: Saga of Heroes."
