"Video game fans are always seeking new and improved ways to beat their opponents, making them an easy target for gift givers.

  • It might look just like this...or nothing like it.
Turbine has posted some new Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar concept art on the official site.

" These are two of several styles of armor found in LOTRO, as worn by a Man of Eriador. (In the game, players can wear armor designs from another race, if they so choose. Hobbits, being peaceful folk, have not developed an armor style of their own.) However, armor takes skill to wear effectively, and only certain classes will have the appropriate skills for some armor-types. "

  • It's deja vu all over again. .
MMORPG.com has posted a review of Star Wars: Galaxies- New Game Experience, the "revamped" (new gameplay mechanics) SWG.

" Due to the massive changes recently implemented within the Star Wars Galaxies (SWG) Mmorpg, we felt it was necessary to update our review to reflect the changes brought out by the New Game Experience (NGE). We do hope that this review will provide you with the information needed. Also, I will refer to the combat upgrade (CU) along with the NGE. In the last 6 months, SWG has done multiple changes to the game and we’ll try to be as clear as we can. "

  • If you looked like a bat and had super powers you would be a villain too.
About.com has posted their review of City of Villains. .

" Ever since the release of City of Heroes last year, people have been leaping tall buildings in a single bound, outpowering locomotives, taking the law into their own hands, and exploring their alter egos as virtual superheroes. With the launch of City of Villains, NCSoft and Cryptic have made good on their promise to let you play the anti-hero. No more coming to the rescue of purse-snatching victims, this time around you will be robbing banks, carrying out hits for the mob, and pummeling everyone that gets in your way with a disregard befitting a criminal. • GameSpy rolls for initiative.
DDO is still in the "hands on" phase of previewing (followed by the "OMG roxxz0rz!" preview phase, which is followed by the "preview" preview phase... something like that), and GameSpy doesn't disappoint.

After all, what better genre than the massively multiplayer online role-playing game to bring the "role" back into what usually becomes merely an endless treadmill of players searching for the bigger, better magical doodad? Having been lost in the D&D Online beta for about three days now, I'm seriously impressed at how well Turbine is translating not just the mechanics, but the very "feel" of classic D&D gameplay to the MMO format.

No dice bag needed to view GameSpy's "hands on" preview of Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach.

  • Some fancy Dungeons and Dragons pictures, ironically showing neither a dungeon nor a dragon.

CVG has posted two new Dungeons and Dragons Online screenshots.

" Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach is set on the continent of Xen'drik in the world of Eberron with players questing, adventuring, hitting things with swords and calling people "n00bs" and so on. "

  • EverQuest, not to be upstaged by World of Warcraft gets its name in the press as an addiction.
Great Fall Tribune Online is at it again portraying gamers as overweight sluggards who refuse to shower. You can read all about it in, "Fun and games or addiction?" I for one choose fun and games over addiction.

"At one point this summer, the pair played more than 50 hours straight. Anderson, a junior, is already a year behind in school, at least partly because of his gaming."

  • What do you mean slow fall doesn't work in  real life?

More coverage of the Chinese boy who's impersonation of a hot air
balloon failed miserably, inciting his parents to sue Blizzard debacle
    is posted at Ferrago.

"The lawsuit against Blizzard blames the dangerous
    influences of their
title for the boy's death, and the case is being supported by the vocal
Zhang Chunliang, an activist who has in the past sought to educate on
    the dangers of internet
addictions. The suit will be filed soon and Chungliang claims he has
spoken to over sixty parents, concerned about the impact of online
addictions on their children. Blizzard have yet to respond to the
lawsuit, which has yet to be officially filed, but it is likely that
this will prove a test case for China's perception of online gaming and
    the associated risks. "
