  • Patch Reviews. Next, twinkle in their eye reviews.
GamersInfo.net has posted a review of World of Warcraft after the 1.6 patch. Vin Diesel is able to patch his own injuries in seconds, making him invulnerable:

"World of Warcraft (or WoW for short) is a Massively Multiplayer Online RolePlaying Game or MMORPG. This means that you play on one (at a time, at least) of a number of servers with thousands of people on at the same time. That's the first choice you have in WoW: what type of server you want to play on."

  • Issue #5 - 95 More Until The Cool 100.
Gamespy has posted a preview of City of Heroes: Issue #5. Vin Diesel arrived for some City of Heroes villain arse kicking, but before he started he said:

"The good news for everybody who still fights on the side of law and order is that NCSoft isn't resting on their heroic laurels when it comes to their incredibly fun superhero MMO. Since its release in April of 2004, the game has undergone a steady stream of large-scale content upgrades. Dubbed "issues" in honor of the game's comic book roots, these content upgrades have changed the world of Paragon City, adding limited Player vs. Player in the Arena, new Epic-level powers, the chance to play as the alien Kheldians, and, of course, capes. The latest upgrade prepping for release is "Issue 5 -- Forest of Dread.""

WorthPlaying has posted an Auto Assault Interview featuring Scott Brown of NetDevil. Mel Gibson screamed a war cry and rushed right at us before saying:

"Auto Assault combines vehicular combat with role-playing elements. Players explore a post-apocalyptic future in customizable cars, motorcycles, semis and even tanks. Players battle other players both in arenas and in epic race vs. race wars for control of the regions in a devastated Earth. In this pre-canned Q&A project lead Scott Brown talks about the social interaction..."

  • Lord British - King of Saturn.
The Space Review has posted an interview with Richard "Lord British" Garriot discussing his involvement with space tourism. Marvin the Martian created an earth shattering kaboom before uttering these immortal words:

"Richard Garriott lives in Austin, Texas, and is a producer at computer gaming company NCSoft. He has had many hit computer gaming titles going back to the dawn of the personal computer age in 1979, including his famed Ultima series. Less well known has been his quiet role as vice chairman of Space Adventures, which includes some notable firsts. The Space Review conducted an email interview with him after his first space PowerPoint presentation at the Metropolitan Breakfast Club in Austin."

  • For newcomers to MMOGs (and Guild Wars in particular)...

Chris Pickering with UK's PC Review.com has published a fairly milktoast review on Guild Wars. It serves well, however, to acquaint newcomers to the game and its premise:

Now Guild Wars is quite a different beast from the likes of World of Warcraft or Everquest. While these games rely on monthly subscriptions to cover all kinds of costs, with Guild Wars you never pay anything more than the initial purchase in your local gaming emporium. Again, where the other big hitters in the genre require incredible numbers of hours put in, in order to get to any kind of decent in game level, Guild Wars requires you to display your intelligence and skill. With the in game level cap set at 20, which is reachable in quite speedy time, your own skill is required if your going to ‘beat’ the game.

  • Nope, no woo-woo factor in Auto Assault!

Though Auto Assault is nowhere, noway, nohow conceptually close to San Andreas, both in its play and in its morbid lechery, the Denver Post asked NetDevil Co-Founder Scott Brown to tell of his fears and jeers regarding the video game sex fiasco.

Scott Brown, NetDevil co-founder and chief executive, said the firestorm over Grand Theft Auto is "a bit over the top." But he said he wouldn't oppose government regulation of games - as long as it's fair. "(Auto Assault) is definitely not a kid's game. I think we should be firm about who gets their hands on video games," Brown said.
