  • Blizzard's VP of Game Design, Rob Pardo Talks To CVG

    ComputerandVideoGames.com had a chance to sit and talk with Rob Pardo about World of Warcraft's much awaited expansion The Burning Crusades.

    World of Warcraft is such an unstoppable behemoth of a success story, it hardly even needs an introduction anymore. Still, there's plenty that developer Blizzard is keeping tight-lipped about regarding the forthcoming expansion Burning Crusade, so we'll seize any chance we get to weed out further nuggets of fact.

    We sat down with Blizzard's VP of game design, Rob Pardo, to probe his impenetrable cavern of revelations regarding just what we can expect when Azeroth's dark portals finally open, the benefits offered by the expansion's two new races and, of course, the new level 70 cap. Read on for more.

  • Now You Can Move Your Character...For A Fee...

    This announcement was posted on the official World of Warcraft site...

    We are happy to announce the availability of the Paid Character Transfer service for World of Warcraft. You can find this feature in the account-management section of the official World of Warcraft website. This new functionality will allow you to transfer characters to other realms (within certain restrictions) in order to join friends and family or make new friends and allies. Learn more about this new feature in our Paid Character Transfer FAQ.

    The initial launch of the Paid Character Transfer service will only allow transfers between a limited set of realms. You can now transfer characters off of these realms:

    * Altar of Storms
    * Argent Dawn
    * Demon Soul
    * Illidan
    * Warsong

    We'll gradually scale up the list of realms to accommodate more players as quickly as possible. To start transferring your characters, just log in to the account-management section and click the Paid Character Transfer button. Good luck in your continued adventures in Azeroth, and have fun on your new realm!

    Please note that because it is tied into the account-management section, the Paid Character Transfer service may be unavailable during the regularly scheduled weekly maintenance.

    Head over to the World of Warcraft site for more information.

  • FiringSquad.com Talks to Paul Whipp

    FiringSquad.com had a chance to talk to Paul Whipp. Australian developer Auran introduced their upcoming fantasy MMORPG Fury at last month's E3. See what the game's producer had to say...

    FiringSquad: First, how did the idea for Fury come about?

    Paul Whipp: For some time I had been wishing that I could play a game where I would customize my role play characters more freely and prove them in an FPS style arena combat. When I met the guys at Auran games who were already talking about making a sword oriented multiplayer combat game, I knew we could work together to build a great MMO game that would fulfill my dream.

  • Kids in a Candy Store: An Interview on Casual Gamers and Tier .5
    Armour

    Sound familiar? The fight between Raiders and Casual gamers within the
    World of Warcraft has been the biggest source of animosity within their
    first MMORPG attempt. It has taken a while for the two groups to really
    separate and voice their opinions and views, but now, well over a year
    after the release of the game, Blizzard has taken a very large step in
    trying to close the gap. The release of the new tier .5 armor quests gives
    the chance for any player, both Raider or Casual, to upgrade their tier 0
    armor sets, into a whole new set, comprised of 4 new rare items, and 4 new
    epic items.

    This interview will help explain not only the steps involved to complete these new quests, but views from the gamer’s themselves as to whether or not these new upgrades and quests are worthwhile at all, and whether they are the answer to the Casual’s cries before the release of the expansion.

  • A Walk Through the Forest

    Elwynn Forest, a forest so lush you would almost think of it as Night Elf land. New Humans go from level 1-10 in this wonderfully scenic zone. Although things can be confusing with a feuding farms, Murlocs everywhere, and crazy ninja rogues who like to hang around in vineyards. That's why Ten Ton Hammer how has a complete walkthrough of levels 1-10 in Elwynn Forest! Everything you need to know to get
    through this zone in a speedy fashion!

    "Elwynn Forest is a vast sprawling woodland inhibited by the bulk of
    the Human population. The forest itself is home to many wild creatures
    ranging from boards and wolves to the strange kobolds and murlocs.
    Elwynn Forest enjoys the security of the Stormwind guard, but that
    security is only reserved for the roads and towns. Many places are
    overrun by the Defias staging camps or one of the many strange
    creatures that have taken up residence in this land. The majestic city
    of Stormwind lies in the northwest of the forest, looking over the
    last remaining cities of the Human empire."

  • RPG Vault Concludes Fury Series

    RPG Vault has posted part two of their interview with Lead Programmer Michael Petrou, Lead Designer Adam Carpenter, Producer Paul Whipp and Senior Designer Joseph Hewitt.

    Jonric: Since you previously mentioned trials, which seem to be Fury's version of quests, would you care to tell us how they function?

    Adam Carpenter: As Fury is pure competitive gaming, we don't have quests in the classic PvE sense. Instead, we have trials, which are our PvP equivalent to quests. In them, players are required to use a specific set of abilities in order to achieve the trial's goal. The more efficiently a player uses the avatar's abilities, the faster it will complete each trial.

  • Cross server battlegrounds, when death-coiling the locals just isn't enough any more.
    Blizzard has thrown up their look ahead to Patch 1.12 for World of Warcraft. Also in the works are a rogue revamp, hopefully changing the many typos of rouge to rogue automatically and World PvP.

    " For the first time in the history of World of Warcraft, you will be able to face off against players from other realms in the Battlegrounds. Coming in patch 1.12 are cross-realm PvP Battlegrounds, linking Alterac Valley, Warsong Gulch, and Arathi Basin so that players from several realms will be combined into one huge matchmaking pool. Replenish your mana, sharpen your blades, and get ready for some brand-new challengers! "

    You can read the World of Warcraft patch notes for 1.12 at the official site.
