  • In case you were thinking Mustafarian had something to do with Reggae music...

SOE previews the November Star Wars Galaxies: Trials of Obi-Wan expansion by way of showing us some new equipment and house items that can be found on the inhospitable lava planet of Mustafar. It's enough to elicit gutteral noises from any excitable Wookie.

Mustafar, once a simple mining planet, now suffers in the merciless grip of greed. Treasure hunters and mercenaries of all sorts risk their necks to cross dangerous lava fields, battle renegade droids and explore deep into old republic facilities still armed with dangerous defense grids because the lure of treasure is so great.

  • I need your help, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
IGN has posted a preview of Star Wars Galaxies: Trials of Obi-Wan. The preview is a good read covering the new, or should it be returning villain, as well as touching on the solo versus group aspect of the expansion. Mark Hamill will talk to anyone...but us, so we'll pretend that he said this:

" If there's any game that's managed to stir up some controversy with it's various incarnations, changes, and general shinannegans, it's Star Wars Galaxies. It was easily one of the most anticipated MMOs to hit shelves and provided a unique look at the Star Wars universe that crafters and role-players seemed to like more than most interested in combat scenarios. For good or bad, much has changed in Galaxies including a new combat system and an increased focus on loot to keep people adventuring. With those ideas in mind, Sony Online and LucasArts have created a new high level expansion called Trials of Obi-Wan, where players will indeed get the chance to meet the wise one himself… well, in ghost form anyway. "

  • SWG producer Grant McDaniel brought back gamers' questions from Leipzig on the upcoming "Trials of Obi-Wan" expansion.

He won't be confronting sticky issues like why the Death Star had to circle Yavin to blow up its 4th moon. Dood, it blows up planets, and if Yavin is a gas giant, couldn't the DS just fire through it to bring enough widespread destruction on Yavin 4 to undermine the rebel cause. Don't get me started! Nothing like good Hollywood, though.

    1. Is this a Jedi expansion?
Absolutely not. This expansion has content and adventures for all types of Star Wars Galaxies players.
    2. I'm not a Jedi...so is there any reason for me to obtain the Trials of Obi-Wan Expansion?
Of course. All players will be able to converse with Obi-Wan and help him on his quests. Additionally, there will be many other quests as well as other reasons to explore the planet of Mustafar. And, the planet itself is so completely unique when compared to the rest of the planets in our game, that I think many people will just enjoy exploring and adventuring anywhere they can. (A lot more than Anakin!)
    3. Trials of Obi-Wan: Will there be a new playable species? How about new NPC species?
We did not add any new playable species. However, Mustafar is home to two new native NPC species that you will find in the expansion (more on them later).

  • Questions? Answers.
Vault Network has a fan-fest developer interview posted. Somebody wrote this, maybe:

"I got a chance to sit down with Dallas Dickinson, SOE Senior Producer at Fan Fest and ask a few questions about Star Wars Galaxies. Some of these are kind of random, as we were writing down questions to ask on Friday night at dinner. Thanks to PhantomOfTheMMO for his help in coming up with the questions, and thanks to Dallas for taking the time to sit down and answer them for me."
