  • EVE Unveils Voice at GDC Booth #5324

A press release was issued to announce that EVE Online is joining the Voice revolution.

EVE Voice is fully integrated into the EVE client software, eliminating the need for third party applications, which take up computer resources, require a dedicated voice server, and pose a security risk.

  • GDC: EVE Online-White Wolf Update

FiringSquad has posted an update on the goings on at CCP.

Of course purchasing White Wolf gives CCP access to a ton of new and well known RPG properties and they plan to use them to make new MMO games. When asked Bergsson would only admit to making an MMO based on World of Darkness but would not reveal any more info at this time.

  • EvE Online at GDC

GamersInfo has updated their site today with this interview from GDC.

The last year has seen numerous changes to the game world and many momentous events in the EVE Universe, from the First Titan made to the first destroyed. While some of these changes have been both for the better and long anticipated by the community, they have also caused a bit of angst and frustration both in the community and amongst the CCP Family.

  • Now People Can Hear You Scream in Space....
As part of their GDC presentation, the developers at EVE Online announced that voice communication will be available by late March 2007. Many Eve players rely on quick combat communications, and the integration of voice chat will allow those players to reduce the time it takes to communicate. EVE Voice will be optional and only require a $10 fee for 12 months. Magnus Bergsson, chief marketing officer of the title, explained a bit about the voice capabilities:

We recently had a fleet battle with more than 1,000 players in one sector of the EVE universe. The amount of communication between those players in planning and executing these maneuvers is vast. Adding integrated voice will not just enhance gameplay by accelerating those plans and allowing players to react quickly as situations unfold in-game, but it will give combat pilots a strategic advantage.

  • An Interview with Noah "Hammerhead" Ward

WarCry.com has posted this interview that talks about EVE Online.

WarCry: Since the first Titan was destroyed, will the Dev Team make the wreck a permanent fixture in the universe to commemorate the event?

Noah Ward: That's always been our plan. There was a huge e-mail thread about it here and everyone was in agreement that it should definitely be done. We've got the coordinates to not only the first wreck but the second as well.

  • Worker Misconduct Allegations Addressed

MMORPG.com is reporting that EVE Online Community Manager Kieron has addressed misconduct allegations on the forums.

Our goal is to provide the best possible game, gaming experience and development process possible. In light of that, we would like to address the recent allegations of CCP employee misconduct. CCP has taken these charges very seriously and since they surfaced we have launched a thorough investigation consisting of an examination of character histories ranging back to their creation as well as into any connected characters owned by the developers involved. This examination was performed by the same internal division which is also tasked with standard periodic audits of all developer and volunteer accounts. Areas of investigation include, but are not limited to: messaging history, financial and transactional history, combat and corporation logs, item and cash transfers and IP logs.

  • Force Feedback Interview

Force Feedback has posted an interview with the Development Team for EVE Online.

FFB: Are there are any things that you that wish would have gone Live with Revelations I, but couldn't because of time restraints?

CCP: Without a doubt, Factional Warfare was the most anticipated feature that was originally planned for Revelations, but during the design phase we had to admit that we wouldn’t be able to include it in this expansion. We have a very clear plan for what Factional Warfare should be and it will require the talents of nearly every member of the development team to bring it to life.

  • People still enjoy mining, you know

Games Radar has taken the time to write up their thoughts on this recent expansion to EVE Online.

This is a bit awkward. EVE Online Revelations, the expansion to EVE Online, is a constantly evolving MMO. We’re reviewing Revelations but it’s actually an ongoing series of patches; for now we can only review the first installment in the sequence.

Upsettingly, it hasn’t brought with it the major graphical overhaul, or any of the snazzy DirectX 10 stuff that CCP have been talking about during 2006. Nor has it fixed really hardcore problems like the sovereignty system used to capture player-owned stations. Without these things, the changes Revelations brings feel premature. I’d rather have waited for a massive installment some time in 2007.
