  • Space Race: Hilmar Veigar Petursson Interview

Gameindustry.biz has posted this first part of an interview with CCP's Hilmar Veigar Petursson.
Hilmar Veigar Petursson: We are showing our usual stuff, but we're also talking about our expansion that will come out in the middle of June. But the biggest element on the horizon is the new graphics engine update. We've re-written our whole 3D engine and remodelled all the content of EVE.

  • Fighting the MMO industry's fantastic tendancies

EVE Online CEO Veigur Petursson thinks we need a little more variety in the MMORPG niche.

For the CEO of Icelandic developer CCP, Blizzard's market-leading MMO is already the perfect execution in the fantasy genre, and studios need to forget some of the history associated with massively multiplayer games in order to try something new.

"I just don't understand why people do yet another fantasy game. Why make a clone of World of Warcraft?" said Petursson, in an exclusive interview with GamesIndustry.biz.

  • GDC Progress Report: CCP and EVE Online

MMORPG.com reports on EVE Online with this interview with CCP's Magnus Bergsson.

EvE is a game about the future, and we were lucky enough to see the future of EvE this week here at GDC. I had the chance to sit down with CCP's Magnus Bergsson about what EvE will offer over the next year, some of the scandals that the game has seen, and get some early information on the White Wolf merger and games planned. CCP has a lot of work ahead of them and these guys seem to be ready for any challenge.

  • What's Next for EVE?

What's next for EVE? That was the question we presented to Magnus Bersson, CMO of CCP Games. On Tuesday of GDC 2007, we had an opportunity to sit with Magnus and conduct a very candid and honest interview with him. Our questions ranged from the status of Vista/DirectX 10 integration to the current GM scandal situation. His answers are extensive, knowledgable, and provide some intriguing answers to questions that many of us were stewing over.

Magnus: We're trying to get users to engage in smaller battles, because they are actually alot of fun. We're still discussing some of the ideas that we have - and we always keep in mind that we are a service provider so we don't want to influence them too much. We are not gods. The game is driven by players, and we are just trying to keep up with them.

  • EvE Online at GDC

GamersInfo has updated their site today with this interview from GDC.

The last year has seen numerous changes to the game world and many momentous events in the EVE Universe, from the First Titan made to the first destroyed. While some of these changes have been both for the better and long anticipated by the community, they have also caused a bit of angst and frustration both in the community and amongst the CCP Family.

  • An Interview with Noah "Hammerhead" Ward

WarCry.com has posted this interview that talks about EVE Online.

WarCry: Since the first Titan was destroyed, will the Dev Team make the wreck a permanent fixture in the universe to commemorate the event?

Noah Ward: That's always been our plan. There was a huge e-mail thread about it here and everyone was in agreement that it should definitely be done. We've got the coordinates to not only the first wreck but the second as well.
