  • Nothing funny to say here. Having your boot.ini nuked really sucks.

    The latest EVE Online patch is reportedly breaking Windows-based computers by deleting the boot.ini file. For those that don't know, that's the file you need for Windows to start. CCP is currently in heavy damage control mode, and downloading the patch now shouldn't give you any problems, but the customers affected by this probably won't be able to start voicing their opinion of it (or even know what exactly happened) for a few days.

    It's finally time for the launch of Trinity, EVE Online's new expansion which will be providing a graphical overhaul of the entire game. Expect some downtime tomorrow for about 24 hours of patching and prep work.

    The mainstream media presence of MMOs continues to grow with this New York Times article about EVE Online.

    Online games are different. Inhabited by thousands or even millions of players, online worlds are constantly evolving, and not merely because of the ever-changing cast of characters within them. For their customary fee of $15 a month, players of what are called massively multiplayer games expect developers to add new features and rebalance old ones constantly.

    If you're just shaking for some new Trinity information from the EVE Online people, you're in luck. They just launched their new Trinity Feature Site with a host of tasty infobits for your reading and viewing pleasure.

    EVE Online: Trinity will be coming to your computer this winter, and we don't want to keep all the cool information to ourselves. Plenty of sneak peeks were shown at the Fanfest, now it is time to bring more of the Trinity expansion to light.
