Dofus is a 2D online tactical MMORPG developed by Ankama Games. Originally released in September 2004 exclusively in France, Dofus was translated and re-released for the international market on September 7, 2005. Dofus takes its name from the magical eggs that can be found throughout the game world.
Dofus sets itself apart from other MMORPG’s by using Flash Format MX™ to run its game world. While Dofus is free to try and play with a basic Ankama-Games account – a service that allows you to play any of the Ankama games - the majority of the game is tied to a subscription fee. At $6.90 a month, the monthly fee is relatively inexpensive compared to current MMO’s.
Upon entering the world of Dofus, most players immediately create a character from one of 12 classes, although some are unavailable without a subscription. The world of Dofus is vast, comparable to most "premium" MMOGs, and contains ample opportunities for players to learn, fight, and advance their characters.
