More on Ten Ton Hammer

Blending gambling, online play, and video gaming, the developers of Kwari have hit upon a veritable gold mine of content. Kwari, at its core, is an online FPS that features competition based upon money rather than an in-game ranking system. While a player is inside the game, each shot that hits his opponent is money in his pocket, while each shot that hits him takes money away from his purse. This sort of gameplay has never been explored before, and the developers at Kwariare betting that the game will come out ahead.

While information on Kwariis still sparse, there are a few elements that are concrete fact. The game will feature three different themes with 9 total maps allocated to these three themes. The standard selection of FPS weapons will be available - pistol, shotgun, machine gun - along with a few other interesting additions like an Ion Gun. Instead of creating personalized avatars, players will be given a randomly generated avatar from the hundreds of different beings available in the game. No chat functions are allowed to keep the players anonymous.

Kwari was closed in June of 2008.

Shoot people, make money. Yeah, no one's going to have a problem with this.

RPG Vault has their third in a series of Kwari Developer Diaries posted for your reading pleasure.

When we were first introduced to the game concept behind Kwari, it was pitched as FPS MMOG played for real cash stakes. From a technical perspective, my first thoughts were about how to make a compelling, responsive FPS experience in an MMOG, and how to deal with the financial side of the play to ensure that the money is always handled securely.

You Gotta Know When to Hold 'Em...Know When to Fold 'Em...

Have you ever wondered what it looks and feels like to play video games for money? The developers behind Kwari have answered that question by recording segments of their upcoming gambling-based first person shooter. Still in development, the game is scheduled for release this winter, but Ten Ton Hammer grabbed the new video to give our readers an indication of what the game may play like. Check it out now!

    An Addictive MMOFPS? Inconceivable!

By combining the first person shooter experience with the addictiveness of gambling, the developers behind Kwari may have constructed the ultimate massively multiplayer experience. With cash on the line in every game, players have no choice but to take the game seriously. Kwari should be available for digital download in early 2008, but until then spend your time looking at the latest screenshots that the editorial team at Ten Ton Hammer has nabbed for you. Enjoy!

Gambling on death matches! It's like a dream come true for videogame critics.

Blending gaming and gambling, Kwari is an upcoming online FPS from Micro Forte studios. While a U.S. beta is not scheduled (the studio is based in the UK), the developers have stated that the game will be playable in the United States and they hope to insure that most citizens will be able to play the game, although state gambling restrictions still apply. To whet your appetite for the upcoming game, here are eight screenshots depicting three of the settings you could be playing in!

Intense just got a whole lot... intenser.

From Austin Games Conference, we have fresh new screens and concept art for the just-announced MMOFPS Kwari, by a developer of the same name, currently being built on the BigWorld platform.

"The deal marks a significant shift in the way FPS players engage one another in the online-gaming world, fighting for cash prizes on a per bullet and kill basis. The title will mark the first of its kind, paving the way for a new meaning to high-paced FPS action."
