Pirates of the Burning Sea Features

  • Interview and New Screenshots

Multiplayer Online Games Directory (MOGD) has updated their site with an interview with Pirates of the Burning Sea's Content Director Jess Lebow. This interview also features new screenshots.

Staci: What is ship-to-ship combat like? Do the ships move slowly for realism, or is that abandoned in favor of a quicker pace? What factors go into being successful in a battle?

Jess: Ship combat requires a lot of tactical calculating. Ship speed, wind direction, and your ship's stats all factor into how you approach a battle. The whole thing is a thunderous affair. Pound for pound, there is more firepower in this game than any other I've played. Imagine 50 9-pound cannons all going off at one time-and that's just your first volley.

  • Interview and New Screenshots

WarCry.com has posted an interview with Priates of the Burning Sea's Producer John Scott Tynes. They also posted two new screenshots!

WarCry: At PAX you announced avatar combat would officially be in the game when it launches this summer. Why did you choose to bring it in and delay launch to accommodate it?

John Scott Tynes: It’s just such a big expectation for the whole pirate/swashbuckling genre that we decided we had to deliver on it – particularly for boarding combat, where you really want to get in there and swing your sword around instead of watching some numbers float by.

  • Jess Lebow, Lead Writer and Content Designer for Pirates of the Burning Sea answers some questions

Coldfront has posted an interview with Jess Lebow. Find out what they were able to learn about the upcoming Pirates of the Burning Sea.

CF: What do you like best about working on Pirates of the Burning Sea?

Jess: The team, the whole team. It's not just that there's a lot of talent here. There is, but what truly makes this an exceptional group is their willingness to collaborate. We walk into a meeting, each of us with our own ideas, and we start talking, and pretty soon those individual thoughts have morphed into one giant new idea that is far better than each of the individual parts. No one owns that idea, we just all contributed to its creation. It's this willingness to listen to others and include different ideas in the mix that assures me PotBS is going to be a success.

  • Grumpy Old Gamer Continues His Report On His Trip To Flying Labs

Game Club Central has updated their site with the second report from Grumpy Old Gamer's trip to Flying Labs to see the upcoming Pirates of the Burning Sea. Keep reading to see what he has to say.

When one thinks of Pirate games there are certainly a few that have set up our expectations of a Pirate game, mainly Sid Meirer’s PIRATES! and Pirates of the Caribbean. Both quality games at their time, but you can take them both as genre primers when it comes to the big dog – Pirates Of The Burning Sea (POTBS). In a word, this ain’t your daddy’s Pirates. Before I get into the depth of the game I need to introduce three company members that graciously answered all of my questions about the game and took me through a wonderful afternoon at their company:
