  • Well I'll be darned.

There will be a more in-depth announcement coming soon but, in the meanwhile, I wanted to let our community know that this is not an error. Existing users can now open up their Account Manager and their accounts will now be working, allowing them to play Shadowbane for free! This does include those who had previously canceled accounts!

If you've never played Shadowbane, you can download the client from Fileplanet. What does this mean for Shadowbane? I'm curious to see how they will be able to continue to fund the game without subscription plans or retail pricing.

  • I've been dying for days to tie Rock Lobster into a story. It hasn't worked to my advantage yet so I thought I'd make something up. An Avid Family Guy watcher and B52 fan it was a joyous day for me when I got to see Peter singing "Rock Lobster". The unfortunate thing of this is that now that I hear the song on my play list while I'm gaming, I hear Peter's voice.

What does this have to do with anything? Well, while I'm playing MMO games, rather than listen to the in game sound, I listen to my extensive playlist. With that said, I wanted to see if I could find out if there is a similiarity in music that gamers listen to. So! Send me your top 5 most listened to songs! We'll see if there is a number one most listened to song while we game. If I get enough entries I'll post the list here. If not, well, there is always "Rock Lobster"!

  • Today 1UP published their preview based on a peek in the current demo build of The Chronicles of Spellborn. They concluded:

"So, here's hoping. Both that the game realizes the potential it's already showing, and that it doesn't end up being overlooked as another drop in growing sea of fantasy MMOs. We will be keeping a close eye on it, and will be looking forward to reporting whatever we can from the upcoming beta." Read it here. They're excited.. I'm excited... we're all excited. I haven't seen the game yet. I'm just looking for something new.

  • It's the big news of the day. Rumours are flying like er.. pigs.. about how Dell bought out Alienware. However, Dell is adamantly stating that no.. they haven't.

"At this time, Alienware will not comment on any speculative stories or rumors concerning Dell and Alienware's association. While we do believe that news stories like this are ultimately a strong positive reinforcement of the Alienware brand and the company's success, we will not comment on speculation or potential future events."

    or on Cnet Aussie

He also questioned the reasons behind such an acquisition, stating that Dell is more than capable of building viable gaming machines without Alienware's help, and that Dell has the potential to be seen as a "cool" company.

"Dell's XPS range already offers better performance and better value than Alienware's machines and in the XPS mobile concept you've seen the potential of one of the cool new things Dell could do this year," McKeon added.

Despite McKeon's comments, Dell doesn't currently offer its XPS range to the Australian market.

So I just bought a 400 XPS 3.0ghz dual core with 2 gig of ram and a 160 gig hd. I'm admittedly one of those people who when offered credits says.. "Why the hell not?" Besides.. who doesn't want a new fancy schmancy pc? I actually do hope that Dell has acquired Alienware. It may give Alienware a better customer support system as well as better built machines. Are they the ultimate gaming machine? That's the perception. . .

Frankly, it may not be as cool but I've never ever ever ever had a problem with any of my four Dells in the 6 years that I've been buying from them. *shrug*

  • It's little surprise that these days MMORPG developers are hosting in game advertising to supplement the cost of producing and launching these games. Costing upward of thirty million dollars to make, smaller niche games don't have the chance to turn a profit as quickly as someone like Blizzard to went into the black months after release. With that said, NCSoft has signed a deal with Massive Inc to put in-game ads in their upcoming release Auto Assault.

While you're driving down that highway of life, keep an eye out for that Pepsi ad.
