  • After multiple shortie packs (what I call adventure packs) Sony is releasing it's new Expansion pack Kindom of Sky. No release date was announced.

"Kingdom of Sky offers something for all of our EverQuest II players," said Laura Naviaux, senior brand marketing manager, Sony Online Entertainment. "For the seasoned EQII player, Kingdom of Sky increases the amount of high level content in a world filled with intrigue and the potential destruction of Norrath by the evil dragon lords. The second expansion pack brings the excitement of dragon battles and is timed to coincide with the newly-added Player vs. Player (PvP) action."

  • SOE announced on the Official Forums today that they're releasing yet another expansion pack for their MMO Monster EverQuest.

“EverQuest Prophecy of Ro will give players the opportunity to interact with and transform the online world of Norrath like never before,” said Chris Sturr, Sr. Brand Manager, Sony Online Entertainment. “In addition to a variety of new features, EverQuest Prophecy of Ro continues the fascinating storyline as new and old players alike explore, battle and adventure through EverQuest on more than 30 new missions encountering new creatures and environments throughout the journey.”

Players will be able to interact with the world thanks to three new features. The first, spheres of influence, can be used to thwart your enemies or aid allies. The second feature is a trap system that will let players deceive opponents with player-set traps. And for the first time in EverQuest, players will be able to destroy objects in the world; doors can be bashed in, walls can be toppled and towers can be destroyed, leading to a new level of interactivity within the game and opening up a new realm of design.

It's amazing that this game is still going strong after nearly seven years since release. Shows you that you can't keep a good game down.

  • If you've been following along you'll have seen this little game steam ahead with some pretty impressive numbers.

EVE Players greet the New Year

At 20:44 this evening a new PCU milestone was reached when 22.020 EVE Players were logged in at the same time. CCP's hardware partners are working around the clock to deliver more power to the Tranquility cluster so that the regiment of one unsharded virtual world with no instancing can hold

If you ask anyone what their favorite sci-fi / pvp type MMO is, Eve comes through as the final answer every time. It's worth checking out.

  • In probably one of the hardest to read formats I've ever seen in my entire life, Krel's Library has an interview up with an anonymous developer regarding the status of the Realms of Torment / Mourning MMO. It's on again off again status clearly does not er.. clear up with the interview. But it's a good read anyway.

  • When CNN leads with Cheerleading injuries on the rise Good God Man! What is the world coming to? However will we win that game if Becky Sue doesn't get over her sprained pelvis?

I laugh and I joke, however, as everyone knows this is the time of the year when all of the developers collapse from the sheer stress of the Holiday Rush. So the result of said collapse is a decidedly lack of good postable news.

Please bear with us in this "dry" time. I promise lots more sarcastic, droll, witty, bitchy comments.

  • The devs at Chronicles of Spellborn were busy this weekend. First, we have a whole new batch of screenshots to drool over at MMORPG.com. Second, Coen Neessen, the Lead Game Designer for The Chronicles of Spellborn has written a comprehensive article on the Skill and Combat system.

    Tactical Choices
What we are doing with the combat system in TCoS is to increase the effect of tactical choices made by the player during combat. Furthermore we think that too many games use a combat system that is too dependent on damage outcome using formulas and percentages that sort of take away player control, and can take away the joy of victory. For instance this can be especially true of a combatant who wins due to a lucky streak of critical hits, or by using a weapon which does random bonus damage.

    Happy reading Peeps!

  • GamerGod wraps up it's three part interview with Everquest 2 Community Manager BlackGuard.

Nine: Being part of the creative team involved with EQ2, would you say you have more of an advantage than the average player has in terms of knowing plot details for storylines, NPC’s for quest turn ins, and general information that the average consumer has to find out on their own?

I have the ability to take advantage of the information available to me, but that usually ruins the fun. To be honest, if I get stuck on a quest, I do the same thing that everyone else does (ask in guild chat, bug people in the "LFG" channel on our server that nobody looks for a group in, or hit up a website with spoilers).

In terms of lore and plotlines, I probably do know a little more than the average player. That may change in the future as we start releasing more and more lore as weekly features. EverQuest II has a heck of a lot of lore to it, and we want people to know more about it because the stories are part of the heart of the game.
