  • Lexus With Lasers.
Worthplaying has posted some new Auto Assault screenshots on their site. I for one am all for car-mounted weapons.

"Combine fast-paced vehicular combat with high-tech, futuristic weaponry and hundreds of intense skills and you get Auto Assault – a unique departure from traditional Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs). Hop in your own customized cars, semis, and motorcycles and prepare to fight the mutated creatures and bandits of Auto Assault's post-apocalyptic world. Battle other players both in arenas and in epic race vs. race wars for control of the regions in a devastated Earth. Auto Assault uses the power of the Havok physics engine to let you make insane jumps, send obstacles flying and even blast bridges, buildings, fences and trees with your car-mounted rockets. Anything you can hit, you can destroy! "

  • More tights than an IBM board meeting.
Boomtown has posted some fantastic shots of the City of Villains character screens. Strangely absent is the Martha Stewart character screen.

" There are just four days left before City of Villains goes live. As you already know, character customisation is a key feature of Cryptic Studios' epic and today NCsoft Europe has images to illustrate just some of the options that will be available to players on 31st October. "

  • Mastermind movie.
NCSoft has released another City of Villains movie. The focus this time is on the mastermind archetype. No sign of Pinky and the Brain.

" This video features the Mastermind Archetype. The Mastermind is able to summon minions and use them to attack opponents. Some of the henchmen available include zombies, ninjas, soldiers and robots. "

  • What would a Halloween party be without bedeviled mounts?
As the latest update notes propend, Dark Age of Camelot has joined in on the Halloween fever sweeping the genre.

    "HALLOWEEN FUN
    - Treat sellers have been spotted selling sugary confections inside Meath, Erikstaad, and Caerwent.
    - The consignment merchants would like to show you their Halloween spirit! Pick up the merchant and place it back down on your house porch and he will change into a Halloween outfit for you!
    - Be aware adventurers! Ghosts haunt the streets of your capital cities as the pumpkin moon rises!
    - The horses you once rode have joined the spirit realm. (This affects stable and merchant horses only - not player controlled horses.) - Something strange has happened to all of the puppies.
    - The pumpkins have been carved into jack o' lanterns!
     - A trio of crazy old women have been spotted selling costume potions inside Camelot, Jordheim, and Tir na Nog.
     - The costume potions last 15 minutes each and come in a variety of flavors."

  • "This is my... Boomstick 2000!"
MMORPG.com is sporting some new screenshots detailing the weaponry in the first "MMO with a first-person-shooter feel in a cyberpunk atmosphere." I hope they have strength implants in that game world; humping those BFGs through the brush would make for a bad day.

"The developers of Neocron 2 have released another set of 5 screenshots. These shots, like so many of the sneak peeks that we have had from this game, focus on letting players know just what kind of weaponry they can expect to run into in-game."

  • Horizons' very own "Treehouse of Horror," sans drooling aliens
Tulga Games has just announced the winners and runners-up of the Horizons Scary Is-Story-An (it only took me five minutes to figure out that phrase alludes to the in-game world dubbed "Istaria") and the mask creation contest. To read the frightful tales and see the gruesome masks, however, you'll have to join the comfortable and close-knit in-game community.

"The Scary Is-Story-ans this year are:

-LaughingOtter of Chaos with "The Saris Ferryman"

-Shalindra of Order with "The Abandoned Isle"
    And the Runners-Up were:
    -LaughingOtter of Chaos with "Burnbones"

-Reebdoog of Order with "Reebdoog's Tale"

A big congrats to the winners!
Players can read these stories by speaking to Holm, the Orator in the festival grounds in the tomb!"

  • black·guard  (blag' - ärd) n. 1. A thoroughly unprincipled person; a scoundrel. (!)
The EverQuest 2 Community Manager Ryan "Blackguard" Shwayder considers the legitimacy of Alternate Advancement (AAs), bards that actually play instruments (imagine that!), and some crafting questions in "Ask SOE #39" at EQ2 Vault.

"Andrew "Tamat" Beegle: Will you guys be introducing AA's (Alternate Abilities) for the high-end players that grind to 60 and get bored out of their minds? Or at least something similar to that, enabling players to advance their characters past the max adventure level?
Ryan "Blackguard" Shwayder: We’re absolutely looking into the kinds of things we can do for parallel or post-end game advancement. Adding new character powers is a tricky balancing act. We want to ensure that whatever we put out there is fun, rewarding, and powerful. At the same time, the trick is for us to do so in a way where we do not cause a stratified layer of “you must have all of your extra advancement, or you can no longer play the game,” as that then steers the entire direction of the game toward the hardest of the hardcore, which isn’t desirable for the other 97% of the people who play."

Take a look at the latest EverQuest 2 interview at EQ2 Vault.

  • Beta is over, here come the villains.
GameCloud have posted their final impressions of the City of Villains beta. The game is scheduled to release on October 31st, with pre-order customers jumping in two days early.

" Last month we got our first chance to play the beta version of City of Villains, the stand alone expansion to the hit super hero themed MMORPG from developer Cryptic Studios and publisher NCSoft. At the time we wondered how the two separate games would co-exist and if players of the original would leave for the sequel. Since that time NCSoft announced that players would be able to play both games for the same $14.95 a month fee, something that Sony Online pioneered with their $21.95 a month fee for access to all of their MMORPG titles. "

Pre-order your copy of World of Warcraft: the Board Game today! Not only will you get your game immediately upon its release, but you'll get special limited-edition goodies free! "
