  • Dodge Horizons & Handgrenades!
NetDevil brings us tres deskpaper pics showing the newest car concepts in Auto Assault, blueprint-style. CIA experts are monitoring the insidious efforts of Libya's tyrannical regime to adapt the Mutant MC-9 prints for use as an ice cream truck. Militant extremists love ice cream, apparently.

" Every Wednesday in the month of October we'll giving you a sneak peak at three new vehicle chassis designs that are currently being built, modeled, and developed in Auto Assault. "

  • Holy crap, Vanguard news!
A sweeping coastal landscape pic and some nice-looking treants are part of Vanguard's latest screenshot offering. With the complete lack of other Vanguard news and the official forums doing their broken record impression on old themes, we'll take whatever was can get!

"[Ed. note - Snippets can be a bummer when devs don't describe their cool screens. Using my investigative prowess, I was able to determine that the village pictured is Leth'Nurae, the coastline belongs to Ahgram, and the treants are, yes, actually called treants. Prowess in this case meant looking at the pics filenames, but there you go."

  • IGN Reviews WoW "RP-PvP" Ruleset Servers
Consider it a "no tresspassing" sign for brats, morons, and their ilk.
IGN takes a look at what makes a WoW roleplaying server a nice alternative to the gank-a-rific flame-fest that gave WoW PvP servers a skanky reputation. Arnold Schwarzenegger, after being terminated one too many times in Molten Core (and using his gubernatorial powers to have the perpetrators summarily executed), recently made the big switch. He quoted this excerpt from the article in a press conference:

"When it comes down to it, "RP" is more of a special tag that keeps out the jokers, letting those who play well with others do their thing without much hassle. In general, it seems to be a more mature crowd full of people who genuinely enjoy the game and enjoy socializing within it. I've been playing the game since closed beta in April last year (with a few gaps, mind you), and I've experienced my share of hair-pulling aggravation that only a dedicated asstard can generate, so it's nice to come across what looks like a fresh change of pace."

  • Monitor the sale of your gnome.
Sony Online Entertainment is broadcasting as RSS feed, popular among bloggers and news sites, to publicize "hot" offerings in Station Exchange, which allows players on select servers to buy and sell virtual items and characters for cold, hard, real-life cash.
There's no word yet on whether the model who won the "Quest for Queen Antonia" contest will start blogging her bachelorette exploits, queencam included, that players can view as a Station Access premium option. Actually, I'm not sure that anyone's heard from her; did she take the money and run? Heh.

"We have setup an RSS feed for hot auctions on Station Exchange in the last maintenance release.  So now you can monitor hot auctions in your favorite RSS reader."

  • Questioning the bad guys.
MMORPG has posted a City of Villains interview with Zeb Cook of Cryptic Studios. We couldn't find any super-villains to talk to, so we just made this up:

" How will people who own both games be able to get missions in the new areas? For example, are there contacts in Paragon City that are only available to people with both games? "

  • Unhand me you brute!
NCSoft has posted a walkthrough of the "Brute" that will appear in their upcoming title, City of Villains. Andre The Giant, known for his brute force tactics did not have this to say:

"Despite the potentially dangerous side effects, Karl spent weeks
developing a specific formula to fulfill his totemic destiny.  Finally perfecting the formula, Karl retreated to his uncle’s mansion and injected the specially prepared wolf serum into his own arm.  Expecting an epiphany of joy at being reunited with the animal he believed he shared a blood pact with, Karl was horrified by the rage and anger that swept through him.  Every ounce of inner anger, insecurity, and self-hatred was funneled through the inhuman cravings that swept his trembling body.  Feeling himself filling with strength yet overwhelmed by intense pain and unnatural, violent urges, he collapsed onto the floor. "

  • YOU just proved that advertising works.
If it's on News.com it must be true, and they claim that in-game advertising works. The masters of marketing, Coca Cola, purveyors of fine cleaning fluids that you can drink adamantly refused to reply to our questions, and it is certain they would not have said this in any case.

" You might not understand it at the time, but that big Coca-Cola sign that dances across the screen in your favorite video game is making it more likely you'll reach for a Coke next time you're thirsty. "

  • Mazdas with missile launchers.
Fileshack has the latest Auto Assault Movie posted called, "Tricks and Trims". This two minute movie focuses on the vehicle customization. The NASCAR press relations team refused to speak to us, though we are confident that had they said anything at all, it would have been this:

    "
Two minute long Auto Assault movie called "Tricks & Trims" shows off the game's vehicle customization options. "

  • Gambling makes its EQ2 Debut
A new gambling meta-game is included free-of-charge with today's EverQuest 2 update; it's sort of a slash between the lotto and a slot machine. I got to see it in action last weekend and it's a lot of fun. Other popular changes include 100% run speed while in stealth mode (balanced by the addition of more "see invisible" mobs in the world) as well as tradeskill and UI enhancements.

    " *** Headlines ***

    - Try your luck at the Gigglegibber Goblin Gamblin' Game!

    - No more run-speed reduction with stealth and invisibility!

    - Tell at a glance if you don't have enough power to use a spell or art!

    - Imbued item recipes now available for level 50+ crafters!

    - Many user interface windows have a new look! "

  • Han Solo would say its just "simple tricks and hocus-pocus"
Worthplaying has 17 new screenshots plus a nifty little writeup announcing the Star Wars Galaxies expansion "The Trials of Obi-Wan," set to hit stores at the same time as the DVD release of Episode III.

"Aside from the infamous final battle location, Mustafar also has numerous other points of interest including an elaborate mining facility, ancient Jedi ruins, a droid factory, and an abandoned Old Republic research facility. Your quests will take you to many of these, but you may also reach them by simply exploring. "
