  • Wonder Woman Busted at E3!

Controversy erupted at the Media Centre Thursday morning as E3 Security converged from all points on the compass in response to an urgent "Code Pink"

    The target? Wonder Woman.

And she had to be taken out.

Their jaws set with grim determination, E3 Security cordoned off the area - no media and no pictures allowed. Clearly there was some sort of cover up going on. Ten Ton Hammer was immediately at the scene, and our journalistic integrity impelled us to get the bottom of the story.

  • Showing the Love Through Live Events

Star Wars Galaxies is widely recognized MMO frequently surrounding by controversy. What is SOE working on for the fans? RadarX takes a look at upcoming content changes, and how significant they are for the game.

"A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, I actually played Star Wars Galaxies. I’m a huge fan of the genre, have read most of the literature surrounding it, and am currently trying to acquire a Boba Fett bobble head doll. What happened to SWG after the combat changes was tragic, but that’s not the scope of this article. I’m in the SOE booth speaking with a developer for SWG, and waiting for him to tell me “we’re working on an expansion” so I can act surprised."

Star Wars Galaxies surprises RadarX at E3. Find out how here.

  • Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting

On a remote island, off the coast of Norrath, lies another world of Dragons, martial arts, and unusual culture. RadarX gets a peek at the upcoming adventure pack The Fallen Dynasty and giggles over pig racing.

"I have to admit, the Fallen Dynasty from a graphics standpoint, looks unbelievable. Moorgard tells me the same team that did the SOGA models (which yes I know some of you don’t like) designed the character models and helped with the zones. The village looks like something out of a Jet Li movie. From the traditional looking temple on the hill, to the junk floating on the edge of the dock, the detail is absolutely amazing."

Find out more about this EQ2 Adventure Pack that Tony "RadarX" Jones saw at E3 here.

  • Finding the Fae

Echoes of Faydwer is the exciting new expansion coming soon to EverQuest 2. RadarX gets an inside peek at E3 to see whats being worked on and the amazing content to come. He also asks for safety rails in the new "tree city."

"One of the most exciting aspects of Echoes of Faydwer, is the introduction of the new race, the Fae. The Fae have been in Faydwer for centuries according to Moorgard and will provide players an opportunity to start a new character. Having wonderfully colorful, butterfly like wings, they'll be the envy of every WoW player with mismatched armor. The Fae will be a neutral race, so I asked if there would be any class restrictions. Moorgard said no definitive decision had been made. I'm having a little trouble imagining a Fae in full plate armor though."

  • No More Patches?

Byron "Messiah" Mudry and Thurston "Ratboy" Hillman were able to find an oasis of comfort and excitment among the crush of media at the Simutronics booth when they went to check out Hero's Journey. Tired of maintenance patches and down time? Find out how Hero's Journey promises to do away with that...

Since Simutronics has created a Server System that allows for patches, updates, and the addition of new content to be added without downtime and seamlessly into the world, “Scheduled maintenance” will be a thing of the past. With the assistance of their GameMaster corps, all of which are developers in their own right, having the access to create new content at a whim, Hero’s Journey seems to almost run itself.

The class system of Hero’s Journey allows for 72 professions, yes that is right, 72 different class options. Ranging from the Artilerist all the way up to the more interesting profession of Mortician, Hero’s Journey is far from ‘dead’ when it comes to the class system.

Did they say 72 classes? Check out the full report on what they found at E3 while looking at Hero's Journey here.

  • Shayalyn Goes Pirate

Shayalyn got her first look at Pirates of the Burning Sea, the upcoming MMO from indie developer, Flying Lab Software, that involves high seas naval PvP and PvE combat.

While she was not sure that this would be the type of game for her, Kevin Maginn, a designer for Flying Lab, was easily able to convert Shayalyn as he demoed the game and talked about its features.

Maginn took us out onto the high seas in search of some combat. We watched as his ship, which essentially becomes a player character on water, sailed out in search of adventure…or trouble. It wasn’t long before Maginn’s ship was engaged by an enemy vessel. When a ship enters into a battle, a battle marker appears on the game map, indicating to others that there’s a fight going on, and the ships enter their own instance. After 10 minutes in battle, a ship in trouble can call for help, and other friendly ships can enter the instance to provide aid. There are no disadvantages to asking for help, and the system is designed to encourage cooperative play.

Do you want to see why Shayalyn turned pirate? Then head on over and check out this E3 interview

  • Thurston "Ratboy" Hillman met up with Stieg Hedlund, the Executive Producer of Gods & Heroes, the first big release of Perpertual Entertainment. The demo was held in the Sony Online Entertainment booth, and must have been pretty entertaining since it kept "Ratboy" distracted from the booth babes!

Normally when I walk around E3 I am distracted from the shiny booths and my eyes wander over to the nearest booth babe, with Gods & Heroes I completely lost sight of the booth babes (SoE had some pretty fantastic ones too) and centered all my attention on the demo of the game. For the next forty-five minutes my eyes were glued to the giant LCD screen above me; this game was stunning.

  • Full-Tilt PvP on Steroids

Karen "Shayalyn" Hertzberg asks the deep and burning question, "Do you have the cojones to brutally destory your enemy?" After taking time to interview Adam Carpenter, Fury's Lead Designer, she fills us in on why this is a game where you will need to have them.

Fury is a game for those who do have the cajones to brutally destroy their enemies—it’s 100 percent full-tilt PvP. You won’t be slaughtering NPCs in Fury; you’ll be taking on other players in fast-paced, instant-action combat. “[Fury] isn’t like other games where you’ll stand around 8 seconds waiting for a spell to cast,” Adam Carpenter, Fury’s lead designer, told us. “90 percent of our spells are instant cast.” Carpenter described the game as “on steroids.”

Check out the rest of the story on Fury and their presentation at E3 here.

  • The Little Engine That Might...

Tony "RadarX" Jones brings us a look at the E3 Demo of the soon to be released Dark and Light. Will the game meet expectations or will the load be too heavy to bear?

The boasts of Dark and Light sound like a MMO players dream. One server consisting of 15,000 square miles, 213 cities, player fortresses? What could be wrong with that? In my mind, I have to be a little worried about the player getting lost or being overwhelmed. I was told one of their 13 realms had a larger land size than EverQuest 1. That’s pretty freaking big, and watching him zoom out from the player to the world itself proved he wasn’t joking. They are living up to their claim of “largest MMO ever.”

Find out all about Dark and Light's E3 demo and more here.
