    A game with a "Comedian-Clown". Where is your God now?
    GameShout is reporting that the servers for Flyff, a game that appears to have been hidden well from the public eye, are now open for public beta. Any game that has a character named "Comedian-Clown" has to be worth at least a look right?

    " The Flyff crew have opened their game servers for a public beta for MMORPG fans. Flyff is the first flying MMORPG game in the world; and while others will attempt to duplicate the unique game play characteristics of Flyff, no other MMORPG will fill the sky with thousands of users engaging in air based assault, land based assault and Private Island PVP. "

    Even your second life has spyware.
    Netcraft is reporting that Second Life has been knocked offline for the second time in a month by malware that is being distributed by players within the game.

    A gaming "virtual world" has been knocked offline for the second time in a month by malware distributed by players within the game. Second Life, an innovative online game with more than 80,000 users, took its entire system down for more than five hours Thursday after an instant messaging bot overwhelmed the game grid with a huge volume of messages. A similar incident on Oct. 23 also caused a lengthy system outage when a user program automatically generated more than 5 billion spheres inside the game. "

    1UP has posted some videos from the recent BlizzCon gathering. My personal favorite is the dance-alike contest.

    " But Blizzcon isn't about what they exhibited-- it was all about the attendees and the community. To be able to see my WoW General Chat in flesh is a surreal but exciting. It's exhilarating and comforting to know that I belong in this niche community where all of us are deeply obsessed and passionate about this alternate reality. Is it geeky that all of us cheered wildly at the guy who did the perfect Troll dance in the dance-alike contest? Maybe, but that's what I felt like Blizzcon was- a huge inside joke where all of us who "get it" are reveling in the exclusivity. Walking around the show floor was tiring but that didn't bog us Blizzconites down, we had high Spirit. Enjoy the videos! "

"It's just a game" is an adage that casual, uninvolved onlookers will cite when someone they're close to gets worked up about something that happens in their virtual world of choice, but they usually fail to take into account one key fact: quite often, these games are work. Sure, you might somewhat enjoy certain aspects of a game's less-than-glamorous elements, but given the choice, you'd be doing something more fun in the world.
