  • City of Heroes & Villains Interview: Issue 9

Boomtown has updated their site today with an interview with Matt “Positron” Miller. This interview takes a look at the upcoming Issue 9.

Q: Obviously crafting has become a major part of MMOs. Tell us what the Invention system will offer players?

A: Since the “City of” games never had a crafting system or hard “loot” of any kind, we are kind of easing our playerbase into the concept. What you won’t find is a hard core crafting system that you must min-max numbers in for weeks to make the best “product”. What you will find is a fun new way to gain Enhancements, and Enhancements you actually desire. In addition, you can collect various “sets” of Enhancements which slot into specific powers.

  • Will it Work With Vista?

MMORPG.com has posted an hardware review that looks at Vista and how it will work with MMOs.

As we all know – or should know, unless we happen to live under a rock – Microsoft recently gave birth to a shiny, burbling baby operating system: Windows Vista. Ooh, look at it, it's pretty. And it's also pretty frustrating if you don't know what to expect.

Yes, installing a new OS is always an adventure. Sometimes that adventure ends happily ever after with a nice sunset-lit hand-holding session, but more often it seems to end with our hero being de-boned for a quick dinner with the local troll family. Have no fear, I'm here with a torch to fend off those nasty OS trolls and get you up and gaming with Windows Vista.

  • New Review

Atomic Gamer has weighed in with their thoughts on the newly released Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.

The world of Vanguard is colorful and often lush, but there's just something missing in the art design that I feel holds the game back. There are few places that require you to "zone" and the overall look is one of realism rather than the cartoony charm of World of Warcraft, but I still feel that the world is missing something here. Maybe it's that charm, but I do know that whatever the world of Telon is missing, the worlds of Star Wars Galaxies didn't have it either.

  • Dreamlords Interview

Strategy Informer has updated their site with an interview with Jon Selin, the Lead Designer of Dreamlords.

Strategy Informer: What can you tell us about players’ main characters, Dreamlords, and their role in the game?

Jon Selin: A Dreamlord is the spirit of a piece of floating land called a Patria. While the Dreamlord is the player’s avatar, there is also a race living on the patria which the Dreamlord can control to do his biddings. While you often field your armies you can also go on spirit quests with the Dreamlord, playing in third person mode.
