  • Bog Lurkers Revealed

In the continuing glimpses of the creatures that will inhabit Middle-earth, Turbine gives us a peek today at the Bog Lurker.

Found in the forested wetlands of western Middle-earth, the bog-lurker lives a concealed existence in the darkened wilds. To the casual observer, the body of the bog-lurker is seemingly made of root and bramble, its back alive with marsh-plants and its limbs formed of bark and wood. Ancient tales tell of the creature working alongside the mighty Ents of Eriador, acting in their service to assist in the shepherding of the trees.

  • Chaos Theory - Colton Burgess and Loud Ant Studios Introduce Thrones of Chaos

Copycats are a dime a dozen in the MMORPG niche of the gaming industry. So are promises. But when a developer touts features like familial structures and aging, doesn't pussyfoot around the PvP issue and tells us the game is meant to be a no-holds-barred, guild-up-or-die bloodbath, and tosses in an active trade system between cities that guilds can use or subvert, we take notice. Whether all this will resonate in the unapologetically carebear-ish fantasy MMO camp, time will tell, but if Thrones of Chaos can deliver, we might have a darkhorse candidate challenging Age of Conan for the badassinest MMO title set to be released in 2007.

We talk to Colton Burgess, owner of Loud Ant Studios, about his vision for Thrones of Chaos. Check out the exclusive screenshots graciously provided by Loud Ant Studios as well.

"However, yes, each race has their own multiple finishing moves associated with combat that can be performed once you have defeated your opponent and these animations are being made with a more violent feel to them. If you are going to have a hardcore pvp themed world than the combat should also be supported with equally well-made and violent combat visuals. [Thrones of Chaos] simply is what it is... a hardcore , unrestricted pvp world focused on warring clans and guilds. Some will love it because of that and some will hate it. ;)"

Haven't read about Thrones of Chaos yet? Waiting anxiously for it? Get clicking and learn more. Head over to the forums right here at Ten Ton Hammer and let us know what you think about the exclusive screenshots.

  • The Truth About His Departure

MMORPG.com took some time to talk to Mark Firor who has recently left Mythic Entertainment. Speculation can now cease as to the reason for this move as he shares the truth with all of us.

Matt Firor was the producer of Dark Age of Camelot and Executive Producer for all of Mythic until he stepped down a few weeks ago. Hot on the heels of the EA deal to buy Mythic, the timing was conspicuous to say the least. We get the truth from Matt about why he left.

MMORPG.com: According to the official release, you left Mythic due to the commute. Obviously, with the timing so close to the EA buyout, there are a lot of skeptics. Can you explain exactly why you chose to leave Mythic and the reason for the timing?

Found out what the answer is and then stop by the forums here at Ten Ton Hammer and tell us your thoughts.

  • Is the Warhammer Online game in any way an attempt to be a translation of the table-top war game?

ComputerandVideoGames.com has posted a preview of the upcoming Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning.

Stood in a large hall, surrounded by empty tables where hundreds of undersized battles have been decided with hundreds of handfuls of dice, I ask Games Workshop's licensing manager Erik Mogensen a question that I know is a stupid one, but I feel I should ask. Is the Warhammer Online game in any way an attempt to be a translation of the table-top war game?

"Not at all. It's not about the table-top game, it's about the IP".

Keep reading to find out more. Tell us what you think about this preview at Warhammer Ten Ton Hammer!
