  • Horizons Interview at GamersInfo

    Strangely, David Bowman doesn't play an archer.
    GamersInfo.net has posted another great Horizons interview, featuring David Bowman. The interview focuses on Bowman's background. Legolas, who does play an archer in Horizons (Called Leegoolass) had this to say about that:

    "Often mistaken as the "owner" of Horizons or Tulga Games, David Bowman, like most of the developers of the MMO wears many hats. When asked to describe his job in 5 sentences he does just that: "I coordinate the team. I create new opportunities for the company. I am head cheerleader for Horizons. I manage investor relations. I set the goals for the growth of Horizons." After 10 years with such giants (though not at the time) as Bungie and Turbine before Tulga, time, age, wisdom and personal integrity has made him into a person well-respected by those know him and even more so by those who work with him. "

  • Hellgate: London Preview at IGN

    Have a Hell of a time in London.
    IGN has posted a preview of Hellgate: London focusing on the weapons and the graphical goodness. Bill Roper, formerly of Blizzard fame, would not give a release date, but it looks like we may get to blast away in London next year. I'm sure we'll spend some time with this one at E3 2006. Bruce Campbell was excited to see our number on his caller ID and picked up right away, but unfortunately we had dialed the wrong number. He quickly said this before we hung up on him:

    "
    Hellgate should be of particular interest to those types of players
    that like Diablo-style RPGs. Not necessarily the graphical style or
    quality of that series, but the random nature and near unlimited
    replayability of it. If Hellgate: London turns out as slick as it looks like it should, junkies looking for a new action/RPG fix should warm up those veins because this could be it. We got the chance to see an updated version of the game for the first time since E3 back in May and things look to be progressing at pace. Flagship's Bill Roper is pleased with the work that's been done but is still unwilling to give any sort of firm release date. At this point it's still "when it's done" but will most likely be released sometime in 2006. "

  • Gamehelper Reports on CoV Event in San Francisco

    The Bad-man of Alcatraz
    No Clint Eastwood, but some big names in MMO gaming (and a few schmoes dressed up as comic book supervillains) were in San Francisco bay to showcase "City of Villains" - next-to-release MMO (late October) and stand-alone sequel to the immensely popular City of Heroes.

    "NCsoft recently held an event in San Francisco, or rather, in the San Francisco Bay, to showcase some of the new features being implemented in their upcoming title, City of Villains – particularly base building and base raids. Held within the confines of Alcatraz Island, Lord Recluse and his right-hand woman, Ghost Widow, were on hand to interest the attendees into joining their league of evil, Arachnos.
    Not to be outdone by these villains, our hero Robert Garriott, CEO NCsoft North America, presented his plan for subscriber domination: Two games, one fee - $14.95."

    The not-so-secret secrets.
    GamingGuides.com has posted a lengthy article titled, "Secrets of Massively Multiplayer Farming". I'm not sure these were secrets to anyone who has played World of Warcraft, but the article was an interesting read.

    GameCloud has posted an Anarchy Online Interview, featuring Morten Byom and focusing on Lost Eden, the upcoming expansion. An MMOG that's free and more importantly fun to play.

  • EVE Prepares for Hardware Upgrade

    Solar Systems Overload
    CCP couples an announcement about an extensive server upgrade with a plea for in-game corporations to move their operations out of several heavily trafficked systems. This from the official site, and no, I wouldn't kid you about the source:

    " An Oursulaert native went on record, saying "They better fix the *bleep* *bleep* *bleep* jump *bleep* gates before I *bleep**bleep**bleep* and then some." He then shouted something incomprehensible at nearby Customs Officials, subtle foam beginning to assemble at the corners of his mouth as he finally became able to jump to the next system.



    Similar stories have been reported in systems like Nonni, Sobaseki, Inoue and Isaziwa. Wasona Binge reported that rush hour traffic was approaching "Clusterfu*bleeep* proportions." "
