  • Lord British - King of Saturn.
The Space Review has posted an interview with Richard "Lord British" Garriot discussing his involvement with space tourism. Marvin the Martian created an earth shattering kaboom before uttering these immortal words:

"Richard Garriott lives in Austin, Texas, and is a producer at computer gaming company NCSoft. He has had many hit computer gaming titles going back to the dawn of the personal computer age in 1979, including his famed Ultima series. Less well known has been his quiet role as vice chairman of Space Adventures, which includes some notable firsts. The Space Review conducted an email interview with him after his first space PowerPoint presentation at the Metropolitan Breakfast Club in Austin."

  • Married Couples Who Have Never Met.
PointlessWasteofTime has posted an entertaining article titles, 'A World of Warcraft World' discussing how MMORPGs are going to change the world:

" If you don't know what an "MMORPG" is, don't worry. It's a geek term, like "e-mail" used to be a geek term. For now let's just say it's the most instantly gripping, involving and demanding entertainment technology ever invented. The addiction rate appears to be about twice that of crack Cocaine. There are 10 million MMORPG users in the world and their population is doubling every two years. "

  • Ganked! Sunday edition.
Ethec here to scrape the bottom of the barrel in our Sunday news you can't use piece! It's bad out there newswise, friends; next Sunday I might just have to strike out on my own a bit. You know, create some news in a less than diabolical or illegal manner. Or just put better stuff on the Saturday reject pile!
As usual, you can't make this stuff up:

    • Yoga Makes Norwegian Inmates Unruly.

Apparently soothing "nature sounds" tapes unlock primal instincts, too.
    • Boy Opts for Chopin over Beethoven, Crowd & Piano Teacher Squabble, Lawsuits Fly .

Kind of reminds me of my 4th-grade piano recital. Not.
    • Teacher's Nightmare: Nine Sets of Grade-School Identical Twins

Nine to misbehave, nine to provide an alibi, none to rule them all and in disciplinary darkness bind them.
    • Dog Escapes from Alcatraz, Swims 1.2 Miles In Cold, Heavy Currents

The "birddog" of Alcatraz was later seen growling at his owner. Apparently dogs don't have a penchant for stupid stunts like humans do.
    • Man Goes Up Against Police With Medieval Weaponry

Man later seen playing rock-paper-scissors with Kim Jong Il.
    • Research Indicates Men Physiologically Have Difficulty Hearing Women.

Men everywhere cheer! Then settle into a recliner with the TV remote.

  • For newcomers to MMOGs (and Guild Wars in particular)...

Chris Pickering with UK's PC Review.com has published a fairly milktoast review on Guild Wars. It serves well, however, to acquaint newcomers to the game and its premise:

Now Guild Wars is quite a different beast from the likes of World of Warcraft or Everquest. While these games rely on monthly subscriptions to cover all kinds of costs, with Guild Wars you never pay anything more than the initial purchase in your local gaming emporium. Again, where the other big hitters in the genre require incredible numbers of hours put in, in order to get to any kind of decent in game level, Guild Wars requires you to display your intelligence and skill. With the in game level cap set at 20, which is reachable in quite speedy time, your own skill is required if your going to ‘beat’ the game.

  • This article has something to do with the price of WoW gold in China!"

CNET News.com's Daniel Terdiman takes an unbiased look at the secondary market for coin and items in a variety of MMO games. He might just have succeeded where RP'ers typically fail: making game objects truly, ineffably real! Terdiman looks at game currency as something 100% suseptible to the motions of the international money market.

Given that millions of real dollars are being spent every year on these virtual currencies--perhaps as much as $880 million annually--buyers could well be getting short-changed if they're paying sellers more than the true value, whatever it is, for their gaming gold. While some game companies try to keep a tight lid on rates of exchange between real dollars and fantasy coins on their own sites, they can't control the impact of secondary exchanges.

Methinks he doesn't understand the impact of in-game inflation, but draw your own conclusions!
