  • War Machine Walks Away With $50,000, Fame and Adulation

World Champion. The words alone carry a weighty feeling. But one guild got more than that...a weighty wallet! Keep reading to learn more...

NCsoft Europe and ArenaNet®, developer of the award-winning online role-playing game Guild Wars®, are extremely pleased to announce that on Saturday 26th August War Machine of Korea was crowned Guild Wars Factions™ World Champion, walking away with $50,000 of the $100,000 prize money, bringing War Machine’s total earnings in the last three months up to $75,000. Runners up Idiot Savants of America also took home a healthy $25,000.

The Guild Wars Factions World Championship saw the return of five guilds from the Guild Wars World Championship which took place in Taiwan earlier this year, as well as a sixth open-invitational qualifier. These top players participated in a highly-competitive three-month series earlier this year, and earned their much sought after seats by rising to the top of hundreds of thousands of competitors from around the world.

  • Suspensions and Bans for Breaking the EULA

The official site for Final Fantasy XI has a news post that heralds the termination or suspension of over 1400 player accounts.

Based on the results of an investigation, over 1,400 PlayOnline accounts have been either suspended or terminated on Aug. 30, 2006 for the malicious and intentional use of these third-party tools.

We would like to take this time to remind our players that the use of any third-party tools will not only destroy the in-game balance, but will also encourage RMT (real money trading) activities. We will continue to take strict actions against those individuals that we have confirmed to have used such tools.

Get clicking to read the full story. How do you feel about this action taken against those who try to cheat the system? Tell us in the gold seller free forums right here at Ten Ton Hammer.

  • Who is David Forrest?

Find your answer to that on the official site for Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. In this installment of their developer profiles we get a glimpse into the world of David Forrest, Senior Programmer.

What is your favorite part about working for a game company?

My favorite part of working on a game is getting to invent. I’ve lucked out at Sigil and had a chance to be an inventor on many different levels. Part of what drew me to programming originally was the way it let me be creative. I know that’s not typically what people think of when they hear the word “programming” but I guess that’s why I’m helping create a game world.

  • What Do The Players Think?

The official site for Lord of the Rings Online has been updated with snippets of some of the Alpha tester's journals. Keep reading to find out...

Neither rain nor sleet nor nosey hobbits...

I must begin this entry by first stating a personal bias – quite simply, I love the shire as Turbine has created it for Lord of the Rings Online. From the gently rolling hills and lush farmsteads to the low stone walls and fields of flowers; from the quaint round hobbit-holes to the cobbled paths that wind their way across the land- the shire is beautifully and appropriately rendered at every turn. And at no time is that statement truer then when one considers the substance and nature of the quests that are presented to a fledgling hobbit adventurer in The Lord of the Rings Online.
