  • Diary #2

Gamespot has another addition to the ArchLord dev diary on their site. In this entry we are treated to more of the history of the world and a bit about the races within it.

When Cyripus' men didn't find the Archons in Gracia's village, Cyripus supposed she must have left them elsewhere for safekeeping. The safest place she would have known was the main temple in Serend, so that is where he turned his attention next. Dikain, a monk of the highest level, guarded the temple. He was a formidable force all on his own, but since he was surrounded by his people, he was invincible. Cyripus knew he had to destroy Dikain from the inside if he had any hope of gaining any Archons that he guarded.

  • Turbine Releases Alpha Tester Impressions

The official site for Lord of the Rings Online has been updated with a page dedicated to sharing some impressions from the alpha stage testers. High marks seem to be all round...

So far, we're very pleased with how Alpha has been progressing. This week marked the largest number of concurrent players on the server since Alpha began, giving us a good starting point for analysis on how the game performs and plays. Despite heavier than expected logins, the servers remained stable and most players reported very few problems creating their character and beginning their adventure in Middle-earth. Even though there was a scarcity of wolves in the newbie hunting area (something that will be resolved in the next Alpha build), Archet was abuzz with excitement and activity.

We thought we'd take a moment to share some of the Alpha players' comments with you for some insight into what they think so far:

    * Writing is excellent so far, as are the characterizations. The model options are fantastic - giving you a very *real* seeming and very individual character.

Head over and see all the comments and learn how you can sign up for a chance at Beta! Share all your thoughts on Lord of the Rings Online with us at LOTRO Ten Ton Hammer and get to know the growing community better!

  • Exploring Middle-earth: Bag End

In the continuing series Expolring Middle-earth on the Lord of the Rings Online official site, we get a look at Bag End today.

Above the lane known as Bagshot Row in Hobbiton, adventurers will find the former dwelling of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, known as Bag End. An unassuming Hobbit hole, if slightly better appointed than most, Bag End is a series of rooms and corridors build into Hobbiton Hill and entered through a simple, circular wooden door. However, it is not so much the dwelling itself that is of such great interest, but the tales of its inhabitants and what occurred within that are the makings of many a Hobbit legend.

Learn more about Bag End and then stop by LOTRO Ten Ton Hammer and share your thoughts with us.
