  • I'm Hearing the Lamentations of the Women....

For all you barbarians out there, the Funcom team is now taking applications for the Age of Conan beta test! If you've been hiding under a rock for the last few months, I'd recommend you pull yourself out and go sign up for this beta immediately.

As the gates to the online world of Hyboria are opening, you have the chance to become one of the select adventurers who may answer the call and come to the aid of Conan. The search for beta testers is upon us, and we invite every able man and woman to offer their aid in the quest for a better gaming experience. Now you can make a difference.

Beta testers get free and early access to the game in order to help the developers track down program errors. Also, they provide valuable feedback on the game design, functionality and fun factor. Please sign up using this form, but please note that applying does not guarantee acceptance.

Honestly, Age of Conan and Lord of the Rings Online are the two games I have the most excitement for and I can't encourage you enough to go sign up for the Age of Conan Beta!

  • A Recap of the End Events for LotRO's Closed Beta

The closed beta for Lord of the Rings Online finished up last night, and the whole experience ended with a bang. Turbine unleashed a horde of unforgettable monsters upon Middle Earth, but also deemed many members of the LotRO community worthy of an advance to level 50, albeit for just a short amount of time. Cody "Micajah" Bye was in the middle of the action last night and has brought a recap of the events straight from the heart of Middle Earth!

Before I made it back to Bree, I was instructed that there was indeed an event going on in Rivendell, but there were level 53 drakes involved. A high-level champion let me know that most of the mobs Turbine was spawning were indeed of a much higher level than my current status. I nearly cried. Level 53! I couldn't fight that at my current level, so I began asking around for the location of the level 50 buffs. The answer was: Trestle Bridge in the North Downs.

  • Open Beta

Gamers With Jobs has posted a look at the new way that Lord of the Rings Online is planning to approach open beta and launch!

Turbine's open beta has replaced that first struggling month of pay-to-play retail launch that can be so painful in MMOs. This is nothing new for Turbine. Jonathan Hanna, Director of Community Relations at Turbine, has always thought the focus on the newly-entering retail customer put the pressure on too late. "The truth is, our strategy for that is treat them like customers even during beta," he says. "My mantra is 'beta is live.'" But it's the first time in history that so much focus has been put on the last month before retail.

More is just a click away.
