New City of Villain screenshots have been posted on the official site. Above the entrance arch to the Justice League of Lower Slobobia is written:

"Those fancy pants NCSoft guys posted screenshots, but no descriptions. Now we have to figure it all out for ourselves."

MMORPG has an interview with Dawid Makowski of the Sigonyth Project. A homeless person tapping on his Apple Powerbook was heard to mutter:

"Today we bring you the second developer journal from Sigonyth Project Lead Dawid Makowski. In this article he discusses the perils of being an independent developer and how they've held things together."

  • Let me tell you the story of a man named Xandeluth, a poor mountaineer couldn't keep the Suwari fed...
RPGVault has a preview of Hero's Journey posted. A Suwari, not to be confused with a Swahili once might have said something like this:

"When I began conceptualizing a look for the Suwari, I had in mind the quintessential rogue - a race that could be sly and lithe as easily as it could be nonchalant, haughty, or even a little exotic. It seemed almost natural, then, to draw inspiration from the feline mien in crafting these characters.

Having an admiration for the athletic ability inherent to the feline family, and having found much enjoyment in watching the seemingly effortless acrobatic feats performed by my own cats, I opted to design the Suwari with the leaner, more agile frames of the genus Felis cats rather than with the large-boned muscular bulk of the genus Panthera "big cats." As a result, the Suwari are somewhat diminutive in comparison to some of the other races in Hero's Journey, but when animated, this design allows for a sort of fluid strength, a natural spryness, and grace of movement. These aren't intimidating towers of muscle, but fleet-footed gymnasts."

  • Five years ago the game launched. We decided to interview the devs today.
GameCloud has an Asheron's Call: Throne of Destiny interview posted. A drudge, who is not affiliated with The Drudge Report, but who suspiciously shares the name was heard spouting this:

"Launching five years ago when the massively multiplayer game genre was still fresh and new, developer Turbine's Asheron's Call quickly became one of the most popular MMORPGs ever released and still has a solid folling. Now the developer has taken over the full reigns of their first game from publisher Microsoft and are about to re-launch it as a retail product called Asheron's Call: Throne of Destiny with new content, features, improved graphics and more. Gamecloud got a chance to chat with Turbine's Alex Beckers about the new version of the game."

  • Joust, eat with your hands and act like a pompous fool.
Mythic Entertainment is inviting past Dark Age of Camelot players to come back for free. It is with no certainty at all that we assume, probably wrongly that King Arthur once wrote this:

"FAIRFAX, VA - July 14, 2005 - Mythic Entertainment, developer and publisher of massively multiplayer online games including "Dark Age of Camelot" and the recently announced "Warhammer" MMO, today announced the "Come Back to Camelot" Campaign, which invites past "Dark Age of Camelot" players to experience the game's upgrades and additions free of charge for ten days. From July 14th through the 24th, anyone with a retired account can log into the game, and their character will be waiting for them, just as they left it.
"The war between the Realms is still raging, and past players' characters await - now is the time to get back into the game, and experience a new 'Dark Age of Camelot,'" said Jeff Hickman, executive producer for "Dark Age of Camelot." "Frequent upgrades, additions and response to community feedback mean that the game has been constantly improving. Plus, the addition of new 'Classic' servers lets players experience the rush of Realm vs. RealmTM combat without having to complete the 'Trials of Atlantis' to be competitive.""

  • In the depths of space, no-one can hear you mine.
CCP has announced the launch of EVE Online: Cold War Edition. We are confident that NASA did not have this to say regarding the launch:

"REYKJAVIK, ICELAND - July 14th, 2005 - CCP, an independent developer and publisher of massively multiplayer online games, today announced the highly successful and smooth launch of "EVE Online: Cold War Edition," a massive content upgrade to its popular massively multiplayer title "EVE Online." The launch of "EVE Online: Cold War Edition" signifies yet another huge milestone for the ambitious developer, being met with critical acclaim.
"This upgrade introduces a whole new beginning player experience and lessens the learning curve for newcomers." said Magnus Bergsson, CMO of CCP Games. "The Cold War Edition introduces a completely new approach to introducing players to the game, making it very easy for a new player to get started.""

  • Loading... think you woke up to a bad day.
We had a vicious thunderstorm last night that took our power out not once, not twice, but three times. Apparently on one of the restarts, as electricity found its way back into my humble home it decided that turning on the pump to the well would be a good idea. Turning it off was not on the agenda.
We woke up this morning to flashing 12:00s on all of our electronic gear and best of all... a well that had run dry. The joys of living only 30 minutes past the "sticks".
Now on to the real world, you can't make this stuff up.

  • Bill Gates to dress as Captain America.
Microsoft has signed a deal with Marvel Comics. So says the Interweb meaning it must be true. A guy in a mask and tights flew by and yelled:

"Microsoft Corp. said on Thursday it won exclusive rights to develop and publish multiplayer online games starring Marvel Enterprises Inc.'s super heroes, including Spider-man, the X-men and the Hulk.
The deal covers massively multiplayer online (MMO) game titles developed for Microsoft's upcoming Xbox 360 gaming console and published by the software giant's game studio.
The deal is Marvel's first MMO pact. The first title is expected in 2008.
"This is our one and only," Tim Rothwell, worldwide president of the Consumer Media Group at Marvel Enterprises, told Reuters, referring to the MMO pact."

  • Hitting the beach from the ocean. posted a Pirates of the Burning Sea Developer's Diary featuring Russell Williams. We found a treasure map in a wooden leg that had the following written on it.

"Hi, I’m Russell Williams, Executive Producer on Flying Lab’s Pirates of the Burning Sea ( The theme of this developer journal is growth. When we started working on the game, we knew we wanted to make a game that was different than the current crop, and whenever you’re creating something new, you have to be willing to experiment. Unfortunately, experimentation produces quite a bit of bad along with the good, and throwing away that work is always painful. But it’s even more painful if you have a full art team that’s been cranking away in a dead-end direction for half a year."
