Earthrise is a post-apocalyptic science fiction MMORPG from Masthead Studios. Set in the dark future of the planet Earth, Earthrise marks a return to true sandbox gameplay, featuring open PvP and an extensive crafting system. Currently in closed beta, the game is designed to run on the Windows operating system, and will be launching in 2009.

Earthrise is skill based rather than class based, allowing for more flexibility in character customization. No choice is ever permanent, so if you make a mistake it can be corrected. Players will be able to use vehicles for transportation and gain pets known as 'Robotic Companions' that will aid them in inventory management, combat support and personal assistance. With an offline advancement mechanic, players can advance their character's career while offline.

In this post-apocalyptic world, mankind has survived the Third World War. They have managed to master the technology of cloning and build a new society in a prosperous city called, Sal Vitas. Cloning, nanotechnology and quantum engineering are part of a new reality. Thanks to this technology, the human species has become immortal. Unfortunately, the government of Sal Vitas exercises control over the technology, deciding who lives and dies. Essentially playing god over the population. A rebellion and shadow government is formed and now fights for control and power within the new system.
