  • Interview with Richard Duffeck, Community Coordinator for EA Mythic.

MMOsite posted this interview recently with Richard Duffeck, Community Coordinator for EA Mythic.

That really depends on the female in question. I don t think it s fair to stereotype and lump all female players into the "give me rainbows and pink ponies so I can craft and socialize" group. There are MANY female gamers who want to play a game and kick a lot of butt. Those are the ones that will be playing our game.

  • Erik Mogensen and Jon Gillard from Games Workshop talk about EA Mythic's Warhammer Online as well as the newly announced Warhammer 40K MMORPG.

MMORPG.com had a chance to sit down with the folks from Games Workshop at GDC. Keep reading to see what they were able to learn.

GW and Vigil hope to make sure every element of the Warhammer 40,000 universe is somehow represented in the game. As many know, this is not an easy task. Obviously some tough choices have to be made in regards to playable races, game interface, setting, and format (first person shooter, or third person RPG style). Both companies seem to have their sights in the right place as far as delivering the best MMO possible.

  • The age of reason fails. Time for war

Games Radar had a chance to sit down with Mythic Creative Director Paul Barnett.

Mythic Creative Director Paul Barnett likes to talk. And not just about his online RPG. "A game guide is actually there to corrupt your enjoyment of the game. It tells you the most efficient, straightforward and dull way to increase your numbers, and in no way tells you the wonder and joy of the game you're playing. And for most games, the wonder and joy is in getting there. In fact, in most of life, the joy is in getting to something."

  • When six tribes go to war

Games Radar has posted a look at the upcoming Warhammer Online. The preview also includes a screenshot.

Don’t expect Warhammer to start off in a time of relative peace. This isn’t Middle-earth, and living memory doesn’t have much in the way of peace, even among relatives. For a start, Chaos Marauders have been threatening the stoic warriors of Nordland for centuries, but with their plague tearing through the town of Grimmenhagen, they seem closer than ever to taking control.

  • The Age of Reason fails. It's time for WAR

PC Gamer.com has posted a preview of the upcoming Warhammer Online. Don't miss out, keep reading to see what they think.

This sense of a world on the edge of collapse is emphasised by one of the game's major new innovations: that of public quests. These are attempts to increase the simple joy of being in a multiplayer environment, by allowing players to interact in groups without anything as formalised as actually grouping. A public quest activates when players walk into an area, for anyone to muck-in on. It moves to a further stage and eventually climaxes, rewarding participants in proportion to their contribution to the event.
